Using data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, corresponding to 5.3 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity, we search for violation of Lorentz invariance by examining the tt[over ¯] production cross section in lepton+jets final states. We quantify this violation using the standard-model extension framework, which predicts a dependence of the tt[over ¯] production cross section on sidereal time as the orientation of the detector changes with the rotation of the Earth.

DNAzymes are catalytic oligonucleotides with important applications in gene regulation, DNA computing, responsive soft materials, and ultrasensitive metal-ion sensing. The most significant challenge for using DNAzymes in vivo pertains to nontoxic delivery and maintaining function inside cells. We synthesized multivalent deoxyribozyme "10-23" gold nanoparticle (DzNP) conjugates, varying DNA density, linker length, enzyme orientation, and linker composition in order to study the role of the steric environment and gold surface chemistry on catalysis.

We report a case of combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema (CPFE) with severe pulmonary hypertension in a 46-year-old man, nonsmoker, tyre industry worker. CPFE is commonly reported to be associated with tobacco smoking. This case highlights the possible role of environmental dust exposure (talc) in the pathogenesis of the disease and confirms the clinical characteristics of CPFE described in previous studies.

In recent years, the focus of research on Alzheimer's disease (AD) has shifted toward finding reliable diagnostic biomarkers that enable accurate detection of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) as well as AD. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) has the potential to identify functional changes in the preclinical stages of AD. In addition to the cardinal deficits in memory, deficits in visuospatial cognition are pervasive in AD.

A case of 18F-FDG PET in pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis with bilateral reticulonodular opacities in the middle and lower zones on routine chest roentgenogram and calcification in the peribronchovascular interstitium,peribronchovascular and subpleural intralobular septal regions, and visceral pleura on high-resolution chest CT is presented. 18F-fluoride PET demonstrated intense tracer uptake in the lower zone of both lungs corresponding to CT findings. Minimal FDG activity in areas of dense calcification suggests minimal or no inflammation.

Unusual FDG uptake in unilateral breast on FDG PET study in a 32-year-old lactating woman with recent diagnosis of left upper lobe hydatid cyst is described. The FDG PET study demonstrated uptake in the periphery of the lesion corresponding to the hydatid cyst. In addition, there was an unusually intense FDG tracer uptake in the right breast.

We report on a search for charged massive long-lived particles (CMLLPs), based on 5.2  fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp collider. We measure the cross section and the difference in rapidities between photons and charged leptons for inclusive W(→lν) + γ production in eγ and μγ final states. Using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.2  fb(-1) collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, the measured cross section times branching fraction for the process pp → Wγ + X → lνγ + X and the distribution of the charge-signed photon-lepton rapidity difference are found to be in agreement with the standard model.
