To investigate how biotic and abiotic conditions in an insectary affect the composition of the mosquito microbiome, a single cohort of Aedes aegypti eggs was divided into three batches and transferred to three different climate-controlled insectaries within the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. The bacterial microbiome composition was compared as mosquitoes developed, the microbiome of the mosquitoes' food sources was characterised, environmental conditions over time in each insectary were measured, and mosquito development and survival were recorded.

The dynamics of a driven superconducting vortex lattice in a two-dimensional (2) periodic potential of square symmetry is studied using Brownian dynamics simulations. The range and strength of the vortex-substrate interaction are taken to be of the same order as that of the vortex-vortex interaction. The matching effect in a driven vortex lattice in the presence of a periodic array of pinning centers refers to the enhanced resistance to the vortex lattice motion when the ratio of the number of vortices to the number of pinning centers (called the filling fraction) takes simple fractional values.

In hypoxic and pseudohypoxic rodent models of pulmonary hypertension (PH), hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) inhibition attenuates disease initiation. Background: A novel radiation protection system has recently been shown to shield the primary operator from scatter radiation, but whether it shields other members of the catheterization laboratory team remains unknown.
Methods: Radiation exposure data were collected prospectively in 50 coronary angiography cases, in which 25 were completed using standard radiation protection and 25 with a novel system consisting of a series of rigid shields and flexible radiation-resistant drapes. Radiation doses, measured with real-time dosimeters, were compared between the 2 groups.
Background: Markerless motion capture (MMC) uses video cameras or depth sensors for full body tracking and presents a promising approach for objectively and unobtrusively monitoring functional performance within community settings, to aid clinical decision-making in neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia.
Objective: The primary objective of this systematic review was to investigate the application of MMC using full-body tracking, to quantify functional performance in people with dementia, mild cognitive impairment, and Parkinson disease.
Methods: A systematic search of the Embase, MEDLINE, CINAHL, and Scopus databases was conducted between November 2022 and February 2023, which yielded a total of 1595 results.
Objective: Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) has a multifactorial etiology, with a majority of cases remaining unexplained.
