CHOLANGIOCARCINOMA: EPIDEMIOLOGY, HISTOPATHOLOGY, AND POTENTIAL PROGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC IMPLICATIONS IN A COHORT FROM A REFERENCE CENTER IN SOUTHERN BRAZIL.

Background: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a rare neoplasm, with high mortality, originating in the bile ducts. Its incidence is higher in Eastern countries due to the endemic prevalence of liver parasites. Factors such as metabolic syndrome, smoking, and pro-inflammatory conditions are also linked to the disease.

Primary prevention of post-molar gestational trophoblastic neoplasia in high-risk complete hydatidiform mole: A single-dose prophylactic actinomycin D, associated with uterine evacuation - a long retrospective cohort study.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of actinomycin D (ActD) as prophylactic chemotherapy (P-chem) in patients with high-risk complete hydatidiform mole (Hr-CHM) on progression to gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN).

Methods: From 1996 to 2023, 426 Hr-CHMs were selected in a cohort of 1623 patients with gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD). From 1996 to 2023, 290 patients with Hr-CHMs received a single bolus dose of Act-D at the time of uterine evacuation (Hr-CHM P-chem group); 136 with the same risk factors did not receive P-chem (Hr-CHM control group).

Asymmetric parasitic twins - Heteropagus.

Background: Asymmetric or heteropagus conjoined twins is a rare occurrence, with an incidence of one case in 1-2 million. Conjoined twins are classified according to their symmetry, place of fusion, and grade of duplication.

Methods: We report here an extremely rare presentation of parasitic twins not described before.

PD-L1 and p16 Expression in Penile Squamous Cell Carcinoma From an Endemic Region.

Background: Penile squamous cell carcinoma (PSCC) is a rare malignancy with higher incidence in developing countries. Treatment options include surgery, radiation therapy, and systemic chemotherapy. However, effective treatments for advanced disease are lacking.

Decreased TAp63 and ΔNp63 mRNA Levels in Most Human Pituitary Adenomas Are Correlated with Notch3/Jagged1 Relative Expression.

Despite recent advances in molecular genetics, the pituitary adenoma initiation, development, progress, and the molecular basis of their unique features are still poorly understood. In this sense, it is proposed that stem cell could be involved in pituitary adenoma tumorigenesis. It is suggested that TP63 has important functions in stem cells, and it may have interplay of TP63 and Notch and its ligand Jagged in this process.
