Treatment of severe burn wounds presents a daunting medical challenge, and novel approaches promoting healing and reducing scarring are highly desirable. The application of mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) has been suggested as a novel treatment. In this paper, we present systematic reviews of pre-clinical and clinical studies of MSC therapy for second- or thirddegree thermal burn wounds.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Josefine Lin Henriksen"

  • - Josefine Lin Henriksen's recent research primarily focuses on exploring innovative medical treatments for severe burn injuries, particularly through the use of mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs).
  • - In her article, "Systematic Review of Stem-Cell-Based Therapy of Burn Wounds," Henriksen presents a thorough evaluation of both animal and clinical studies, highlighting the therapeutic potential of MSCs in promoting healing and minimizing scarring in second- or third-degree burns.
  • - The findings from her systematic review indicate that while MSC therapy shows promise in improving burn wound healing, further research into optimal application and efficacy is necessary to translate these findings into clinical practice.
