Correlation between ADR of screening and all colonoscopies.

Background And Aims: Colonoscopy with polypectomy are associated with a reduction in the incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC), as well as mortality, secondary to CRC. Because of the variation in physicians' performance and the risk of interval CRC after a colonoscopy, several quality indicators have been established. ADR (adenoma detection rate) is a generally accepted quality indicator.

Efficiency of acidemia correction on intermittent versus continuous hemodialysis in acute methanol poisoning.

Context: Acidemia is a marker of prognosis in methanol poisoning, as well as compounding formate-induced cytotoxicity. Prompt correction of acidemia is a key treatment of methanol toxicity and methods to optimize this are poorly defined.

Objective: We studied the efficiency of acidemia correction by intermittent hemodialysis (IHD) and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) in a mass outbreak of methanol poisoning.

Dietary habits of colorectal neoplasia patients in comparison to their first-degree relatives.

Aim: To compare the dietary habits between colorectal neoplasia patients, their first-degree relatives, and unrelated controls.

Methods: From July 2008 to April 2011, we collected epidemiological data relevant to colorectal cancer from patients with colorectal neoplasias, their first-degree relatives, and also from a control group consisting of people referred for colonoscopy with a negative family history of colorectal cancer and without evidence of neoplasia after colonoscopic examination. The first-degree relatives were divided into two groups following the colonoscopic examination: (1) patients with neoplasia or (2) patients without neoplasia.

Laterally spreading tumors--experience based on 138 consecutive cases.

Background/aims: Laterally spreading tumors (LST) are flat elevated neoplastic lesions with diameters equal to or greater than 10 mm. The treatment results of 138 lesions in 131 patients are presented here as a part of a retrospective analysis.

Methodology: Two gastroenterology centers participated in the study in the period from 1/2002-12/2006.
