Reproductive isolation is conferred by several barriers that occur at different stages of reproduction. Comprehensive reviews on the topic have identified that barriers occurring prior to zygote formation are often stronger than those that occur afterward. However, the overrepresentation of temperate perennial herbs in the current literature precludes any generalization of this pattern to plants that present other life forms and patterns of distribution.

These kind of plants usually grow and live in extreme environmental conditions such as heat and drought where their CAM pathway for fixing CO allow them to survive in conditions where other plants cannot survive. Although this kind of plants resist harsh environmental conditions, climate change is imposing stronger kinds of stress that diminish their productive potential and in some cases are cause of death.

Many species of the genus are a source of diverse products for human needs, such as food, medicines, fibers, and beverages, and a good source of biomass for the production of biofuels, among many others. These plants are gaining importance as climate change becomes more evident as heat is reaching temperatures above 40 °C worldwide and rains are scarce.

The changes in LIF spectra caused by the induction of organogenesis, the increase of the F690/F740 ratio as a result of the stress originated in the organogenic explants due to shoot emergence, and the relationship between fluorescence spectra and shoot development were detected by LIF through closed containers of Saintpaulia ionantha.

In addition, we analyzed the relationship between ethics and medicine, the conditions that can be source of ethical dilemmas, and the influence of ethics in the doctor-patient relationship, in the clinical work of the physician, and in an individual and institutional process of decision-making. Some factors that result from the interrelationship between ethics and health care, in particular the need for preserving and increasing the human dimension in medical practice, are discussed.
