Gender norms among "Landless" youth: evidence for the social practice of nursing.

Objective Analyzing the relationship between socio-demographic characteristics of youth from the Landless Rural Workers' Movement in Brazil (MST) regarding the prevalence ratio being in accordance with gender norms. Method A cross-sectional study conducted during a Journey of Agroecology carried out in the State of Paraná with young people (15 to 29 years) of both genders. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires.

[Aspects of sexuality in adolescence].

The study involved 920 adolescents between 12 and 19 years of age in junior and senior high schools of the region of Santo Eduardo of the city of Embu, São Paulo. The objective was to identify aspects of sexuality of adolescents of both sexes. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire, the results of which established the difference between boys and girls with respect to their quest for specific information about sexuality; 39% of boys and 17% of girls practiced sexual intercourse, and among these, 77% of boys and 84% of girls used preservativos.

[Gender representations in nursing student and client relations: contributions to the learning process].

The purpose of the study was to identity, to know, and to improve the knowledge about the relationships of gender among the students and the clients in the practice of nursing care. That was a qualitative study, based in the theory of social representation and analyzed concerning the gender theoretical references. [The use of alcohol and tobacco by adolescents in the municipality of Embu, São Paulo, Brazil].

[Knowledge of STD/AIDS among adolescent students].

This study aims to analyze the degree of knowledge adolescents have on STD/AIDS prevention, transmission, signs, and symptoms, and to contribute with the elaboration of educational actions in the University Extension Program called Corporality and Health Promotion. The research counted on 1,087 adolescents (40% females, 60% males) and was carried out in three elementary and high schools located in the municipality of Embu. [The sexual behavior of adolescents in some schools in the city of Embu, São Paulo, Brazil].

It is a descriptive, qualitative study aimed at identifying some aspects related to teenagers' sexual behavior. The subjects of the study were 920 adolescents aged 10 to 19, who were attending primary and secondary schools in the region of Santo Eduardo, municipality of Embu, São Paulo, Brazil. [The stimulating environment for the development of hospitalized children].

This study presents a qualitative approach, and used the method of Simple Observation. It was carried out with eight children who were hospitalized in two pediatric units of a school hospital in São Paulo. Its purpose was to learn the stimulating elements for the development of a child in a hospital environment.

[Death and dying according to nursing students' representations].

This is a qualitative study whose objective was to know the representations of the Federal University of São Paulo's undergraduate Nursing students on the questions that involve death and dying. The subjects were 40 students, males and females, in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of the undergraduate course in Nursing. As a methodology were used the assumptions of the Social Representations, using the technique of an interview with two non-structured guiding questions.

[The corporality of the client according to nursing students representations].

This study based on the theory of the Social Representation that subsidized the apprehension and analysis of how nursing students had perceived and represented the body of their clients and the emergent subjectives of contact and relation of taking care. It was carried with 20 female students of four grades of the nursing faculty of the UNIFESP The data were obtained using interview and analysed by content analysis method (Categorial Analysis) that showed the following categories: body object, stigmatisation, student-client relationship, body communication, privacy's intrusion and embarrassing.

[Nursing students' reflections on death and dying].

This article refers to the first phase of a survey on nursing students' representations on death and dying. The research has an exploratory character and was carried out with first year students of the undergraduate course in Nursing of the Federal University of São Paulo. Its objectives were to know the impressions of the students concerning the theme "death and dying" and to give subsidies for the second phase of the survey.

[Sexual orientation in school: opinion of the teachers from Jandira, SP].

School has an important role in sexual orientation during adolescence. This study aimed at identifying the knowledge and performance of fundamental and high school's teachers regarding sexuality. Data of this exploratory and descriptive study were obtained though a questionnaire, which was applied to a hundred teachers from the public network school system of the county of Jandira, SP.
