Furuncular Myiasis Affecting the Lower Lip of a Young Patient.

Furuncular myiasis is a parasitic infection caused by the larvae of Dipteran insects after penetrating healthy skin, causing an erythematous nodule with a central pore. Additionally, the patient may feel a sensation of movement and intermittent pain. Furuncular myiasis affecting the oral and perioral region is rare, usually leading to misdiagnosis.

Multidisciplinary therapy of extensive oligodontia: a case report.

Oligodontia is a rare congenital disorder consisting in the absence of six or more teeth. This case report describes a multidisciplinary treatment approach for a 12-year-old male with absence of 11 permanent teeth. Prior to any procedure, all primary teeth were scheduled for extraction due to poor crown-to-root ratio.

Evaluation of an educational video to improve the understanding of radiotherapy side effects in head and neck cancer patients.

Purpose: Side effects of head and neck radiotherapy are common and can interfere with treatment. However, scientific information on a patient's understanding of these complications is scarce and confusing. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess the effect of an educational video on improving the understanding of head and neck cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy about treatment complications.

Atypical presentations of simple bone cysts of the mandible: a case series and review of literature.

Simple bone cysts are well-defined intraosseous radiolucencies that often extend between the roots and appear clinically like empty cavities. This article aims to provide more information about this lesion with limited prominence in academic literature, to illustrate atypical cases, and to provide a review of the current literature. A series of six atypical cases of simple bone cysts is presented and their clinical, radiographic and microscopic characteristics, differential diagnosis, treatment and follow-up are discussed.
