Production of engineered-biochar under different pyrolysis conditions for phosphorus removal from aqueous solution.

Phosphorus (P) recovery from wastewater through biochar is an alternative to build a sustainable circular economy and save non-renewable P reservoirs. The efficiency of cations in removing P from wastewater under different pyrolysis conditions is still lacking. We aimed at studying P adsorption and release from biochar enriched with Al and Mg, prepared under air-limited and N-flow pyrolysis conditions.

Prevalence of depression among patients with presumptive pulmonary tuberculosis in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Objective: To estimate the prevalence of major depressive episode (MDE) in patients with presumptive pulmonary tuberculosis (pre-PTB, defined by cough lasting ≥ 3 weeks) and compare it between patients with pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) and without PTB.

Methods: Patients with pre-PTB (n=260) were screened for depression using the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9). Those individuals with scores ≥ 10 were subsequently assessed with the depression module of the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI-Plus) to confirm diagnosis.

The effects of Constitutional Amendment 29 on the regional allocation of public funds for the National Health Service in Brazil.

This article analyzes the effects of Constitutional Amendment 29 in financing the Brazilian National Health Service, SUS, between 2000 and 2010. The aim was to analyze how the resources that were allocated by the three spheres of government were used on a general basis and in specific regions. Analysis was also conducted on the possible repercussions of the Amendment in the allocation of finances for SUS.

[The dynamic binding of resources for health in Brazil: 1995 to 2004].

The aim of this study is to discuss the Brazilian Federal participation in the financing health sector from 1995 to 2004, having the basis the resources of the institutional initiatives related to the indexation of expenses, considering the macroeconomic adjustment practiced in that period and the institutions role to protect the cash flow. Examining the performances of the institutional mechanism actually adopted with the purpose of guarantee the flow regularity and extension of the values, by the analisys of the Temporary Contribution on the Financial Movement (TCFM) and the Constitutional Amendment Number 29 (CA 29) whose initiatives has their efficiency questioned. It demonstrates the impact of the destination of such measures from the statistics analysis of the use of the resources of the TCFM regarding its levies and the indexation of Union resources effects measures from the CA 29 before and after the application of its determinations.
