First year report of the IMSS Multicenter Hip Fracture Registry.

Unlabelled: The population has aged; there is a greater risk of osteoporosis and hip fracture. We describe the standards of care for hip fractures in various hospitals of Mexico. A total of 1042 subjects participated.

Hip fracture is a public health problem, 85% of cases occur in people older than 65 years of age. The Orthogeriatric Unit is a multidisciplinary model that helps to reduce the average hospital stay, mortality and postoperative complications; it allows the recovery of previous functionality, decreases the dependence degree and associated costs.
