Purpose: This work described a new species of Ceratomyxa, based on morphological and phylogenetic analyzes of myxospores collected from the gallbladder of the fish Astyanax mexicanus.
Methods: Sixty-two specimens were captured, between December 2022 and February 2024, in the Flexal River, in the community of Tessalônica, state of Amapá. The specimens were transported alive to the Laboratory of Morphophysiology and Animal Health, at the State University of Amapá, where the studies were carried out.
Introduction: Sarcopenia and Osteoporosis are two prevalent conditions in the older population and are defined by low strength, muscle quality/volume and low Bone Mineral Density, respectively. When there is a concomitant presence of both, there is a novel musculoskeletal condition called Osteosarcopenia. These conditions adversely affect quality of life and elevate the risk of fractures, disability, and mortality among older individuals.

Taylor's law of fluctuation scaling, which states that the variance of a population's size or density is proportional to a positive power of the mean size or density, has been widely observed in population dynamics and characterizes variability in multiple scientific domains. However, it is unclear if this phenomenon accurately describes ecological patterns across many orders of magnitude in time, and therefore links otherwise disparate observations.

Sandwich panels are widely used in the naval and aerospace industries to withstand the normal tensile, compressive, and shear stresses associated with bending. The faces of sandwich composites are usually made of metals such as aluminum and, in some studies with composites, using a polymeric matrix, but there are no studies in the literature using a castor oil polyurethane matrix. The core of the panel must keep the faces apart and be rigid perpendicular to them.

Materials And Methods: Forty-five patients were randomly assigned to three bonding groups (G1 [n = 15], G2 [n = 15], and G3 [n = 15]). Evaluation after the alignment and leveling phases used two parameters of the objective grading system of the American Board of Orthodontics for root parallelism and posterior marginal ridges, assessed using panoramic radiographies (PR I and PR II), a digital model, and a plaster model.

Limpograss () is a warm-season perennial grass that has the potential to feed livestock during scarcity periods. This study evaluated the intake, nutrient digestibility, and animal performance of beef heifers fed 'Gibtuck' limpograss silage combined with different levels of a range cube supplementation. Twenty-four heifers (330 ± 16 kg live weight) were submitted to four different treatments with 6 replicates: (1) control, no supplementation + limpograss silage ad libitum; (2) 1.

Background: Sickle cell disease (SCD) affects approximately 100,000 people in the United States and millions worldwide, with the highest prevalence of 70% of SCD being found in individuals of African ethnicity. Delayed hemolytic, alloimmunization, and anamnestic transfusion reactions in multiple transfusion patients need to be investigated and managed to avoid a worsening of the patient's clinical status.
Objective: This paper aims to investigate delayed transfusion reactions in SCD patients who were polytransfused in the Brazilian Amazon.

We report a case of a 42-year-old woman diagnosed with pulmonary benign metastasizing leiomyomatosis with a random nodular pattern on image and with a rare clinical condition progressing with respiratory failure and severe hypoxemia. This study is relevant due to the rarity of the tomographic pattern and the patient's clinical presentation. There is no treatment guideline for this comorbidity, which further increases the importance of publishing case reports in the literature.

Scabies is an important skin disease in several species of domestic and wild animals; however, few reports in Brazil have emphasized its occurrence in buffaloes. This article describes the epidemiological, clinical and pathological aspects and diagnosis of psoroptic mange in buffaloes in a property in the municipality of Castanhal, PA, Amazon region. Of the 41 buffaloes examined, 38 males and females of the Murrah, Baio, Mediterranean and Carabao breeds and their crossbreeds, aged between 2 and 20 years, had a history of pruritus.

Disruptions in sleep patterns predispose to the appearance of memory impairments and mental disorders, including depression. Recent pre-clinical studies have highlighted the antidepressant-like properties of the synthetic compound 2-phenyl-3-(phenylselanyl)benzofuran (SeBZF1).

This supplies lactate to neurons, which save glucose to obtain NADPH to, among other roles, counteract reactive oxygen species. A failure in this metabolic cooperation causes severe damage to neurons.

Nelore females from different parities (n = 2085) were synchronized for first TAI (D0 = TAI) using an estradiol/progesterone (E2/P4) protocol and assigned to one of three reinsemination programs: Resynch33 (n = 753), traditional resynch program with second TAI at D42 after first TAI; ReBreed21 (n = 687); or ReBreed21+EC (n = 670). The ReBreed females (n = 1357) received intravaginal P4 insert on D12, on D19 P4 was removed, and a dose of equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) was administered, then, ReBreed21 females received 0.

However, despite most of the results obtained with this therapy being positive, some patients still present a suboptimal therapeutic response or still develop some type of resistance. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate IM plasma levels in CML patients treated at a referral unit in Manaus and correlate them with variables that might interfere with these levels.

Notably, p-chloro-diphenyl diselenide (p-ClPhSe) can directly regulate the activities of enzymes involved in glucose metabolism, suggesting an insulin-like effect in rodents; however, there is still a lack of scientific evidence to confirm this hypothesis. The objective of this study was to investigate (p-ClPhSe) effects on glucose and lipid metabolism in Caenorhabditis elegans.
