Giant Cell Tumor of the Triquetrum: Clinical Case and Literature Review.

Giant cell tumor (GCT) is a benign, locally aggressive neoplasm with little incidence at the carpal bone level. We present a case of pyramidal bone GCT that required open biopsy for diagnosis. As a definitive treatment, en bloc resection of the pyramidal bone and luno-capitate arthrodesis were performed to avoid frequent relapses of these neoplasms and ensure proper functionality of the anatomical segment.

PI3K (Phosphatidylinositol 3-Kinase) Activation and Endothelial Cell Proliferation in Patients with Hemorrhagic Hereditary Telangiectasia Type 1.

Hemorrhagic hereditary telangiectasia (HHT) type 2 patients have increased activation of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) signaling pathway in telangiectasia. The main objective is to evaluate the activation of the PI3K pathway in cutaneous telangiectasia of HHT1 patients. A cutaneous biopsy of a digital hand telangiectasia was performed in seven HHT1 and eight HHT2 patients and compared with six controls.

Prevention of postoperative bleeding in hip fractures treated with prosthetic replacement: efficacy and safety of fibrin sealant and tranexamic acid. A randomised controlled clinical trial (TRANEXFER study).

Introduction: We assessed the efficacy of fibrin sealant (FS) and tranexamic acid (TXA) administered topically in patients with a hip fracture treated with prosthetic replacement.

Materials And Methods: Parallel, multicentre, open label, randomised, clinical trial. We compared three interventions to reduce blood loss: (1) 10 ml of FS, (2) 1 g of topical TXA, both administered at the end of the surgery, and (3) usual haemostasis (control group).

Predictors of cognitive decline in 85-year-old patients without cognitive impairment at baseline: 2-year follow-up of the octabaix study.

Background/rationale: To determine how many 85-year-old community-dwelling patients with good cognitive performance at baseline maintain this level at 2-year follow-up.

Methods: We realized a longitudinal community-based study including 169 inhabitants. Patients who maintained scores >23 on the Spanish version of the Mini-Mental State Examination (MEC) were compared with the rest.
