Background: Ergonomic hazards exposure is the main cause of occupational pain. The aim of this paper is to describe the prevalence of exposure to occupational physical load by occupation, in Spanish working population, and its relationship to employment conditions and sociodemographic characteristics of workers.

Methods: We used the information contained in the Spanish Job-Exposure Matrix (MatEmESp), with data between 1997 and 2005.

Objective: To describe the view of faculty who train health and safety professionals on the roles and competencies needed to promote the integration of preventive actions at the company level.

Methods: We used a Delphi method, in three rounds, on an intentional sample of experts, and asked them to rate the appropriateness, relevance and acceptability of 8 professional roles, on a scale of 1 to 9 points. We also asked them to formulate and rank order the corresponding competencies, in order of importance.

Objectives: To describe the professional activities commonly performed by occupational health and safety professionals and their level of satisfaction.

Methods: We conducted a survey in a sample of 236 health and safety practitioners employed in free-standing occupational health services located in the Balearic Islands, Andalusia and Madrid between November 2009 and May 2010. The survey instrument was based on the questionnaire proposed by the International Social Security Association and the European Network of Safety & Health Practitioner Organisations (ISSA-ENSHPO).

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of radiologist experience on the risk of false-positive results in population-based breast cancer screening programmes.

Methods: We evaluated 1,440,384 single-read screening mammograms, corresponding to 471,112 women aged 45-69 years participating in four Spanish programmes between 1990 and 2006. The mammograms were interpreted by 72 radiologists.
