Article Synopsis
  • * Current ILCs often struggle with variability due to the difficulty of producing identical samples, which complicates uncertainty measurement.
  • * The authors propose a filtration-immobilization technique that allows the same sample to be measured across different labs, showing a 77% reduction in measurement uncertainty compared to traditional ILC methods, with potential applications for archiving and creating reference samples in other areas of research.

The term "Plastisphere" refers to the biofilm layer naturally formed by microorganisms attaching to plastic surfaces. This layer possesses the capability to adsorb persistent organic and inorganic pollutants, particularly trace metals, which are the focus of this research study. Immersion experiments were concurrently conducted in five locations spanning four European countries (France, Ireland, Spain, and Italy) utilising eight distinct polymers.

Background: The large sensitivity, high reproducibility and essentially unlimited dynamic range of real-time PCR to measure gene expression in complex samples provides the opportunity for powerful multivariate and multiway studies of biological phenomena. In multiway studies samples are characterized by their expression profiles to monitor changes over time, effect of treatment, drug dosage etc. Here we perform a multiway study of the temporal response of four yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains with different glucose uptake rates upon altered metabolic conditions.
