Introduction: The Law for the Regulation of Health Professions (LOPS) indicates that health professionals will carry out continuous training throughout their professional life, and will regularly prove their professional competence. The objective of the study was to carry out a national survey to find out the opinion of Spanish surgeons and thus be able to prepare a recertification project by the Spanish Association of Surgeons.

Methods: Cross-sectional observational study carried out in June-July 2020, through a survey sent to the members of the Spanish Association of Surgeons.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy, safety and clinical and oncological results of colonic stents in the initial therapeutic strategy of obstructive left colon cancer.

Methods: Descriptive and ambispective study (2008-2018) of patients with clinical and radiological diagnosis of neoplastic obstruction of the left colon in whom a colonic stent was indicated, analyzing the following groups: palliative stent, stent as bridge to surgery and urgent surgery in case of stent failure or complications.

Results: The study included 208 patients.

  • - The study evaluates the current state of surgical training in Spain to see if it aligns with the objectives of the training program, using data from surveys directed at surgical Residents and Tutors conducted by the Spanish Surgeons Association.
  • - Surveys were sent to 626 Residents and 142 Tutors, yielding a response rate of 19% and 29%, respectively, with the majority being first-year Residents (32%) and high overall satisfaction with the training (76%) noted.
  • - Findings indicate that surgical activity meets established program standards in terms of procedure numbers and progression, but there is a lack of uniformity; additionally, the roles and accreditation of Tutors need clearer regulations.

Introduction: Training in major trauma management is increasingly important in our country and throughout the world in general, but there is great uncertainty about who treats these patients in our country and how do surgical residents obtain experience in evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of these patients.

Objective: To find out, from surgery residents, the current state of their training and knowledge of major trauma patient care in our country, and their opinions on how to improve it. On 8 may 2007, the Official Bulletin (BOE) published the new Specialist Training Program. The Post-Graduate Training Section of the Spanish Surgeons Association (AEC), conscious of the importance of this situation, has carried out a reflective analysis of this Program and proposes a series of objectives. The new plan coordinates a training program that sets out three general objectives as regards, knowledge, skills and attitudes that the resident must assimilate and develop, it strictly defines the final product, without substantially changing the previous program and emphasises two fundamental aspects: training in minimally invasive surgery and research training, although the inclusion of previously unpublished new rotations and the continuation of the current assessment model.
