Article Synopsis
- Toxic oil syndrome, a disease linked to contaminated rapeseed oil ingested in 1981, shows a higher prevalence of chronic diseases among affected individuals compared to a matched reference group.
- In a study of 3,527 patients, those with toxic oil syndrome were found to have significantly higher rates of multimorbidity and conditions like diabetes, complicated hypertension, heart attack, depression, and asthma.
- Interestingly, the same patients exhibited lower prevalence of anxiety and low back pain, suggesting a complex relationship between toxic oil syndrome and various health issues.
