Predictor variables in acetabular fractures surgically treated.

Introduction: Up to 25% of acetabular fractures have poor functional outcomes in short-term follow-up. The aim of our study is to analyze predictors related to poor outcome in surgically treated acetabular fractures. Damage to the femoral head cartilage and poor fracture reduction has been reported as predictors to total hip arthroplasty (THA).

Treatment of a Complex Distal Triceps Tendon Rupture With a New Technique: A Case Report.

Introduction: The distal triceps tendon rupture is an uncommon injury. The acute treatment is well-defined, but when a delayed diagnosis is made or when a tendon retraction is present the alternatives or reconstruction are limited and sometimes complex.

Case Presentation: In this case, we report on a 28-year-old man who presented with a chronic disruption of the distal triceps tendon with a gap of approximately 15 cm.

The number of locking screws predicts the risk of nonunion and reintervention in periprosthetic total knee arthroplasty fractures treated with a nail.

Periprosthetic knee fractures following total knee arthroplasty are increasing proportionally to the number of primary procedures done. We performed a retrospective review of Rorabeck type II fractures treated with a retrograde nail, trying to find the relationship between failure and the number of distal locking screws used. Twenty-six patients were included.

Damage control orthopaedics in severe polytrauma with femur fracture.

Objective: To evaluate the rate of systemic complications and mortality in severe polytrauma patients with associated femur fracture treated by early external fixation of femur.

Patients And Methodology: We made a retrospective cohort study with forty-one adult multitrauma patients (New Injury Severity Score ≥ 19) with femur fracture treated by external fixation following Damage Control Orthopaedic surgery. The mortality rates, TRISS analysis, incidence of ARDS and MOF were analysed.

Correlation between pattern and mechanism of injury of free fall.

To define the pattern of injury and aetiology of death of patients who have sustained major trauma due to high fall and its relationship with the mechanism of free fall. A total of 188 consecutive patients who sustained a high fall were included after the TRAUMASUR database was retrospectively reviewed. Demographic characteristics, severity scores, injury type, aetiology of high fall, mortality rate and aetiology of death were analysed.
