[Potential conflicts of interest in biomedical publications].

In human communication and personal relations, there is the possibility of dissent and have a conflict related to the perception or acceptance of the content of a message. To reach an agreement, it is important that the communication between people is horizontal and bidirectional while the issue is being discussed, in order to bring together the interlocutors' expectations and interests. In the administration of services and goods, friendship and nepotism have been the most frequent forms of potential conflicts of interest.

[Ethics and teaching medicine. A principles declaration].

Medicine is an old profession, having existed for twenty-four centuries. The ethical principles assumed since the beginning and have been enriched through time, culture and tradition. The stone corner of the moral commitment of physicians with the patient and medical students has deteriorated due to a values crisis.

[International trends in laboral risk legislation].

It had been established that labor damage are: laboral injuries, professional diseases and others diseases related with laboral conditions. All of them are referred to as diseases or damages suffered as a consequence of a laboral relations. It is implicated that the damage occurs in the place or during a laboral scheduled time with a causal direct relation.

[Chronic diseases and neoplasms, a view from complex sciences and primary care].

80% of adults older than 65 years have at least one chronic, degenerative or neoplasm disease (CDND). The health care cost is high, and they represent the main causes that affect the quality of life. From the scope of the complexity sciences, the CDND are common problems of health but their study and solutions are complex and difficult.

[Use of antioxidants in prevention of the cardiovascular disease: meta-analysis of clinical trials].

Objective: to evaluate if used of medication with antioxidants, antiplatelets, statins and modulators of inflammation reduces effectively the risk of presenting a cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Methods: a search on clinical trials (randomized, double blind and controlled clinical studies) in which the use of antioxidants, antiplatelets, statins and modulators of inflammation were investigated for the primary and secondary prevention of CVD. The selected studies were analyzed by a systematic revision, applying the meta-analysis.

Relation of antimyocardium antibodies to mortality in patients with acute myocardial infarction.

Background: Antimyocardium antibodies (AMA) have been observed in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). At present it is unknown if these AMA play a role in the pathogenesis of acute or chronic myocardial damage or if they are only produced as a result of tissue destruction, disappearing later without clinical manifestations. However, some studies have shown that patients with AMI and AMA have higher possibilities of presenting heart failure and death.

[Pharmacosurveillance III: international experience].

This article, the third of the series called pharmacovigilance, deals with international experience with adverse drug reactions. It highlights the countries with the greatest cumulative number of reports and how their position changes with the use of the country-adjusted number of reports by million of inhabitants/year. It includes, in decreasing order, the number of reports of twenty therapeutic drug classes.
