Changes in plasma ghrelin levels have been observed following different bariatric surgery procedures, but the results from different studies are contradictory. Much remains unknown regarding the role of ghrelin in the weight loss process following bariatric surgery.

Prediction of hypocalcemia after total thyroidectomy using indocyanine green angiography of parathyroid glands: A simple quantitative scoring system.

Background: Hypocalcemia is one of the most common complications after total thyroidectomy. Recently, indocyanine green (ICG) angiography of the parathyroid glands (PGs) has been suggested as a reliable tool for predicting postoperative hypocalcemia. The aim of our study was to evaluate the performance of a simple quantitative score based on ICG angiography of the PGs (4-ICG score) for predicting postoperative hypocalcemia.

Presentation of Degos syndrome as acute small-bowel perforation.

Malignant atrophic papulosis is an uncommon vasculopathy affecting multiple systems and frequently associated with a poor prognosis. We describe a 56-year-old patient with this rare disorder whose death was the result of intestinal involvement. Clinical diagnostic features of malignant atrophic papulosis as well as the main therapeutic approaches suggested in the literature are presented herein.
