Knowledge Exchange Program to Increase the Organ Donation Rates in Saudi Arabia.

The present study presents the results of a collaborative program in Saudi Arabia, aiming to improve deceased organ donation rates. Launched in 2017, the program involved implementing a training program and quality management system in conjunction with the Donation and Transplantation Institute and the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation. The study summarizes 2 phases of the program, including the implementation of key performance indicators and a continuous improvement plan.

Leadership, management, quality, and innovation in organ donation: 2019 Kunming recommendations for One Belt & One Road countries.

The findings and recommendations of the 2019 consensus conference in organ donation, held in Kunming, China, are here reported. The main objective of the conference was to gather relevant information from experts involved in the field. The data and opinions provided allowed to propose a series of recommendations for "One Belt & One Road Countries" on how to achieve self-sufficiency in organ donation.

Acellular human heart matrix: A critical step toward whole heart grafts.

The best definitive treatment option for end-stage heart failure currently is transplantation, which is limited by donor availability and immunorejection. Generating an autologous bioartificial heart could overcome these limitations. Here, we have decellularized a human heart, preserving its 3-dimensional architecture and vascularity, and recellularized the decellularized extracellular matrix (dECM).
