This article reports the case of a 28-year-old female 31.6 weeks pregnant with twins diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection, who delivered a boy and a girl. The newborns underwent RT-PCR testing for SARS-CoV-2; the male tested negative and the female newborn tested positive, in that the female placenta was SARS-CoV-2 positive and the male placenta negative.

We hypothesized that CC16 may be predictive of BPD diagnosis regardless of gestational age. BAL fluid CC16 was measured by ELISA at birth and at day 7 of life.

Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), caused by an excess of glucocorticoid exposure to the fetus, produces an imbalance in oxidative stress altering many biochemical and epigenetic gene transcription processes exposing the fetus and neonate to the 'thrifty' phenotype and pervasive polymorphisms appearance damaging health, cognitive, and behavioral processes in later life. OT is a major regulator of oxidative stress radicals that plays a major role in neonatal maturation of the central nervous system and many peripheral tissues expressing oxytocin/oxytocin-receptor (OT/OTR) system in the early postnatal period.

Background: Leptin and insulin levels are key factors regulating fetal and neonatal energy homeostasis, development and growth. Both biomarkers are used as predictors of weight gain and obesity during infancy. There are currently no prediction algorithms for cord blood (UCB) hormone levels using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) that have been directly trained with anthropometric maternal and neonatal data, from neonates exposed to distinct metabolic environments during pregnancy (obese with or without gestational diabetes mellitus or lean women).

The objective of this study was to determine whether micronucleated erythrocytes (MNE) increased in preterm newborns (PNBs) who were exposed to blue light phototherapy lamps. MNE of mature organisms are rapidly eliminated by the spleen, and the presence of MNE has been related to immaturity in some species.

In view of the possibility that altered expression of cc-10 might regulate its protective function, we attempted to characterize this protein in infants with iRDS.
Methods: Using bronchotraqueal aspirates from human infants, we analyzed cc-10 in two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) by combining immunoprecipitation, carbonyl groups and total protein immunoblotting.
Objective: To compare five curves routinely used for growth evaluation in preterm newborns in a public hospital in Leon, Guanajuato, and to identify those with similar diagnosis according to the reference curve (Williams) in order to determine their usefulness in the clinical practice.
Methods: Analytical, prospective, comparative and cross sectional study in 100 preterm infants, of both sexes, 30 to 36 weeks of gestation without congenital malformations. We obtained the weight and length for their interpretation and to compare the nutritional diagnosis, between five curves routinely used for growth evaluation in preterm newborns: Babson-Benda, Fenton, Jurado-Garcia, Battaglia-Lubchenco and Williams, subsequently, four of the curves were compared against the reference curve (Williams).

Uncovering the plasma membrane distribution of tyrosine kinase Lck is crucial to understanding T lymphocyte triggering. Several studies of Lck species partitioning have given contradictory results. We decided to re-address this point by using phospho-specific antibodies to characterize active and inactive Lck partitioning in raft and non-raft membranes from primary human peripheral blood T lymphocytes.
