Although color vision deficiencies are very prevalent, there are no ideal methods for assessing color vision in all environments. We compared a new digital and automated method that quantifies color perception for the three protan, deutan, and tritan axes with two of the most commonly used color tests in daily practice: the Ishihara 38 plates test and the Farnsworth-Munsell 100-Hue test. One hundred patients underwent a triple examination composed of the new DIVE Color Test, the Ishihara test, and the Farnsworth-Munsell 100-Hue test.

LF2MV: Learning an Editable Meta-View Towards Light Field Representation.

Light fields are 4D scene representations that are typically structured as arrays of views or several directional samples per pixel in a single view. Background: Blood transfusion safety is based on reliable donor screening for transmissible infections such as the hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection.

Study Design And Methods: A novel HCV core-specific antibody was assayed on random single donations from 2007 first-time blood donors who tested negative for anti-HCV and HCV RNA on routine screening. Sample collection broke the code between donations and donors for ethical reasons.

Massive coronary subclavian steal syndrome.

Coronary subclavian steal syndrome is an unusual cause of angina, secondary to decreased or reversed flow in patients with patent "in situ" internal mammary-to-coronary artery graft. The most frequent cause of coronary subclavian steal syndrome is ipsilateral subclavian artery stenosis. We present a 60-year-old man with cerebrovascular and peripheral artery disease and a documented massive coronary subclavian steal syndrome, which impaired cardiopulmonary bypass weaning after multiple coronary artery bypass with double T-mammary artery graft.

Objectives: Preoperative anemia has been related with adverse outcomes in elective valve replacement and CABG surgery. Impact of preoperative anemia on outcome in octogenarians submitted to cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) has not yet been precisely described.

Background And Objective: Our objectives were to detect asymptomatic cases involved in an outbreak of hepatitis B, to assess the seroprevalence of hepatitis B (HB) in orienteers and to establish recommendations.

Patients And Method: One hundred sixteen orienteers who had competed in the categories involved in the previous outbreak as well as a stratified random sample of 166 of the remaining orienteers in other competition categories were included in a cross-sectional serological prevalence study. HB surface antigen (anti-HBs); total antibody to HB core antigen (total anti-HBc); HB surface antigen (Ag HBs); and antibody IgM to HB core antigen (anti-HBcIgM) along with the history of vaccination for hepatitis B were analyzed.

[Utility of molecular biology in the microbiological diagnosis of viral hepatitides].

Viral hepatitides are satisfactorily diagnosed in the laboratory by immunoassays for either antigen or antibody detection in serum samples. However, the early detection of acute infections during the window period, investigation of occult infections, and issues related to the establishment and follow-up of antiviral therapy in chronic infections pose new challenges that only molecular methods can meet.
