This work was performed to study Castilla Rose () as a potential source of polyphenols obtained by solid-state fermentation (SSF)-assisted extraction using the microorganism GH1 and to evaluate the antioxidant activity of the extracted compounds. First, water absorption capacity (WAC) of the plant material, radial growth of the microorganism, determination of best fermentation conditions, and maximum accumulation time of polyphenols were tested. Then, a larger-scale fermentation, polyphenols isolation by column liquid chromatography (Amberlite XAD-16) and recovered compounds identification by HPLC-MS were made.

Human epithelial 15-lipoxygenase-2 (h15-LOX-2), the major lipoxygenase in macrophages, has exhibited strict regiospecificity, catalyzing only the hydroperoxidation of carbon 15 of AA. To determine the catalytic potential of h15-LOX-2 in transcellular synthesis events, we reacted it with the three lipoxygenase-derived monohydroperoxy-eicosatetraenoic acids (HPETE) in humans: 5-HPETE, 12-HPETE, and 15-HPETE.

High productivity values (t =1 hr) were obtained while completely avoiding adenosine-deaminase degradation of the products. N-2-deoxy-ribosyltransferase activity is described for the first time in hyperthermophilic bacteria.

Here we report for the first time three patients with severe nemaline myopathy and mutations of the ACTA1 stop codon: TAG>TAT (tyrosine), TAG>CAG (glutamine) and TAG>TGG (tryptophan). All three mutations will cause inclusion of an additional 47 amino acids, translated from the 3' UTR of the gene, into the mature actin protein.

Methods: In most cases (81%), the dislocation was reduced under general anesthesia and early surgical repair of damaged structures was performed as each case required. In five cases, the treatment was conservative because of associated skeletal and visceral injuries that made immediate surgery inadvisable.
