Titanosaurs were successful herbivorous dinosaurs widely distributed in all continents during the Cretaceous, with the major diversity in South America. The success of titanosaurs was probably due to several physiological and ecological factors, in addition to a series of morphological traits they achieved during their evolutionary history. However, the generalist nesting behaviour using different palaeoenvironments and strategies was key to accomplish that success.

The new coronavirus, also called SARS-CoV-2 by scientists spreads rapidly, causing fear, deaths, and threats for the economy of several countries. This work aimed to describe the clinical characterization of the first cases of a new Brazilian variant of SARS-CoV-2 (P1) in the State of Alagoas, which occurred on February 16th, 2021.

A novel, highly divergent ssDNA virus identified in Brazil infecting apple, pear and grapevine.

Fruit trees of temperate and tropical climates are of great economical importance worldwide and several viruses have been reported affecting their productivity and longevity. Fruit trees of different Brazilian regions displaying virus-like symptoms were evaluated for infection by circular DNA viruses. Seventy-four fruit trees were sampled and a novel, highly divergent, monopartite circular ssDNA virus was cloned from apple, pear and grapevine trees.

Characterization of the sleep-wake cycle of the Neotropical rodent Proechimys guyannensis.

Objectives: To better understand the sleep-wake cycle characteristics in the female Neotropical rodent Proechimys guyannensis related to comparative neurobiology.

Methods: Surface neocortical and hippocampal electrodes were chronically implanted in the brains of female Wistar and Proechimys animals. In addition, electrodes for the study of muscle activity were implanted into the neck muscle of both species.

c-FOS expression after hippocampal deep brain stimulation in normal rats.

Objectives: We studied the effects of Hip-deep brain stimulation (DBS) on the expression of the inducible transcription factor c-FOS in the brain of normal rats.

Materials And Methods: Ten Wistar rats were anesthetized, and nine were implanted with epidural and hippocampal electrodes for brain activity recording; one animal was used as sham. Bipolar stimulating electrodes were implanted in the left hippocampus.

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a multifunctional cytokine with an important pathophysiological role in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The polymorphism of the IL-6 gene promoter at position -174, which appears to influence the production of this cytokine, has been associated with susceptibility to some rheumatic diseases. The aim of this study is to investigate whether the IL-6 -174 G/C polymorphism associates with lupus susceptibility or affects disease characteristics in Portuguese patients with SLE.

Methods: Amputation with preservation of vessels and nerves of the right hind limb was carried out in 140 rats. Groups MG0, MG1, MG2, MG3 and MG4 were submitted to 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 hours of venous occlusion.

The objective of this study was to assess whether clinical measures of rheumatoid arthritis activity and severity were influenced by tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) promoter genotype/haplotype markers. Each patient's disease activity was assessed by the disease activity score using 28 joint counts (DAS28) and functional capacity by the Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) score. Systemic manifestations, radiological damage evaluated by the Sharp/van der Heijde (SvdH) score, disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug use, joint surgeries, and work disability were also assessed.
