The EDA-5 was translated from English to Portuguese, followed by a cross-cultural adaptation for use in Brazil and Portugal. Two independent translators worked on the Brazilian and European Portuguese versions, which were then reviewed to create a harmonized version. This version was back-translated into English and approved by the original author.

Introduction: Pharmacological and other treatments for binge eating disorder (BED) predate its inclusion as the third main eating disorder in the 2013 DSM-5. Currently, second in line to psychological therapy are psychotropics such as antidepressants, anticonvulsants and stimulants.
Areas Covered: This review summarizes the evidence and emerging evidence on the pharmacotherapies for BED and their potential for wider use.

Objective: Weight regain is a common outcome of weight loss interventions. Mental health-related comorbidities, among other factors, can mediate weight regain regardless of the implemented treatment modality. This study explores whether postoperative psychopathological comorbidities are associated with weight regain after bariatric surgery.

This systematic review aims to investigate the effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) as an intervention for individuals with TRD.
Materials And Methods: We will conduct a thorough search for publications of randomized clinical trials and quasi-experimental studies in MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO, Web of Science databases, and ClinicalTrials.
Purpose: A growing body of evidence has shown that electroencephalography (EEG) is an interesting method of assessing the underlying brain physiology associated with disordered eating. Using EEG, we sought to evaluate brain reactivity to hyper-palatable food cues in undergraduate students with disordered eating behavior (DEB).
Methods: After assessing the eating behaviors of twenty-six undergraduate students using the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26), electroencephalographic signals were recorded while the participants were presented with pictures of hyper-palatable food.
Objectives: To investigate the associations among symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) with binge eating spectrum conditions - BESC - [binge eating disorder (BED), bulimia nervosa (BN), and recurrent binge eating (RBE)], and psychiatric and somatic comorbidity and healthcare utilization in a representative sample of a Brazilian city.
Methods: A household survey with 2,297 adults and residents in Rio de Janeiro was conducted. The Adult Self-Rating Scale Screener was used to assess ADHD symptoms.
Introduction: Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) presents a significant challenge, affecting approximately 30% of individuals diagnosed with major depressive disorder and leading to poor treatment responses. Innovations in digital mental health, especially online mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (eMBCT), offer promising avenues for enhancing access to effective mental health care for individuals with TRD in a clinical setting.
Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the feasibility of eMBCT in an individual clinical context to decrease depressive symptoms for TRD.
Background: Major Depressive Disorder is a long-term, recurring, and very common illness that is associated with a significant decline in functional ability. The gold-standard method of treating depression is pharmacotherapy, which involves the use of antidepressant medications either alone or in various combinations. However, approximately 30% of Major Depressive Disorder patients suffer from Treatment Resistant Depression, a more severe condition that has a profound impact on patients' lives.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 259 psychiatrists filled out an online form including sociodemographic data and questions about the diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders based on standard guidelines. The sample's knowledge level and perceived confidence regarding eating disorders were characterized using descriptive statistics.
Introduction: Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a chronic, recurrent, and highly prevalent disease that is associated with significant functional disability. During pregnancy, the prevalence of the disease is approximately 20%, with 12% of these, requiring treatment to avoid important negative consequences for the mother-baby binomial. Risk-benefit assessment of the use of antidepressants during pregnancy is mandatory, in addition to knowledge of the long-term effects of prenatal exposure to these drugs in the offspring.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence and psychiatric correlates of symptomatic ADHD in a large metropolitan area of a middle-income country.
Methods: An in-person household survey with randomly selected 2,297 adults aged 19 to 60 from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, assessed by trained lay interviewers. The Adult Self-Rating Scale Screener (ASRS-6) was used.

Objective: Medication non-adherence is frequently reported in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). The objective of this review is to consolidate data on the prevalence of non-adherence to antidepressant in MDD.
Methods: A systematic review with meta-analysis was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guideline and the protocol was registered in PROSPERO under the number CRD42021199987.
Introduction: Binge-eating disorder (BED) is a complex and disabling eating disorder (ED) associated with considerable burden and impairments in quality of life and physical/mental health. It has been recognized as a formal ED category since 2013, however BED is still underdetected and undertreated.
Areas Covered: This review summarizes the advances in the understanding of the pathophysiology of BED as well as the evidence on the efficacy of the existing treatments.
Objective: Food intake during binge eating episodes (BEE) has been found to be associated with symptoms of depression and anxiety in individuals with eating disorders (EDs). The objective of this study was to evaluate the association between caloric intake during BEE and psychopathology in individuals with binge eating spectrum disorders (BSD).
Methods: One-hundred and fourteen outpatients diagnosed with bulimia nervosa (BN) and binge eating disorder (BED) were sequentially assessed.
Grazing is a clinically relevant eating behaviour, especially when it presents with a sense of loss of control (compulsive grazing). There is evidence that other disordered eating patterns are associated with problematic substance use and impulsivity-related conditions, such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This overlap contributes to higher psychopathology and treatment complications.

However, there is a lack of data from general population samples in low- and middle-income countries. Thus, this study described the food consumption during objective binge eating episodes (OBE) in people with BESC from a metropolitan city in Brazil.

The present study aimed to assess HPF consumption during binge and non-binge meals in a representative sample of adults with and without ED from a metropolitan city in Brazil. A total of 2297 individuals were interviewed in their homes by trained lay interviewers to assess the presence of binge eating disorder (BED), bulimia nervosa (BN), and recurrent binge eating (RBE).

However, it is unclear whether these patterns hold globally. Thus, the goal of this study was to extend previous research by examining the prevalence and clinical correlates of compulsive grazing (CG) and non-compulsive grazing (NCG) in a middle-income country.

Methods: a descriptive study with a qualitative approach conducted with users of an eating disorders outpatient clinic. A semi-structured remote interview was applied using the Google Meet application.
To assess sexual desire in patients with treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Baseline data were analyzed from an ongoing cohort study at an outpatient clinic specializing in TRD treatment in Brazil. The cohort comprised consecutive patients with the diagnosis of TRD who sought treatment at this center between November 2015 and January 2021.

One of the new measures to investigate this eating behavior is the Short Inventory of Grazing (SIG), a two-item questionnaire that assesses grazing in general and grazing associated with the feeling of loss of control over eating (LOC grazing). However, the psychometric properties of the SIG have not been assessed in the Brazilian population.
