Aim: The threats of novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have caused fears worldwide. The Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S) was recently developed to assess the fear of COVID-19. Although many studies found that the FCV-19S is psychometrically sound, it is unclear whether the FCV-19S is invariant across countries.

Background: Chronic constriction injury (CCI) is a model of neuropathic pain induced by four loose ligatures around the sciatic nerve. This work aimed to investigate the sensory, affective, cognitive, and motor changes induced by an adaptation of the CCI model by applying a single ligature around the sciatic nerve.

Methods: Mechanical allodynia was measured from day 1 to day 28 postsurgery by the von Frey test.

Purpose: To compare pain related to intravitreal injection and panretinal photocoagulation in the management of patients with high-risk proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

Methods: Prospective study including patients with high-risk proliferative diabetic retinopathy and no prior laser treatment randomly assigned to receive panretinal photocoagulation (PRP group) or panretinal photocoagulation plus intravitreal ranibizumab (PRPplus group). In all patients, panretinal photocoagulation was administered in two sessions (weeks 0 and 2), and intravitreal ranibizumab was administered at the end of the first laser session in the PRPplus group.

The major aim of this overview was the visual perception of egocentric (distance from an observer to a target) and exocentric distance (distance between two targets). We considered different issues concerning the relationship between perceived distance and physical distance, giving special attention to the theories, to the cues regarding distance, how perceived distances are measured, and the types of visual environments where the measuring of distances occurred. We concluded that the perceived distance does not reflect a simple transformation of its physical counterpart; rather, the mapping between perceived distance and physical distance depends substantially on the type of visual environments where distances are measured, and, on the cue combination available in these environments.

The social prestige of professions with higher education, exercised by social assistants, biologists, dentists, nurses, engineers, pharmacists, physicists, physiotherapists, phonoaudiologists, physicians, chemists and sociologists, was scaled by using both the indirect ordering method and the direct psychophysical category and magnitude estimation methods. The results showed: (1) high correlation (rho = 0.97) between the prestige levels attributed to the professions, obtained by the three psychophysical methods, (2) the non-metric continuum of professional prestige exhibited prothetic characteristics (rho = 0.
