The AlO concentration effect over NiWS/Al Zr catalysts was investigated for deep hydrodesulfurization (HDS) of 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene (4,6-DMDBT). The sol-gel method changed the wt % AlO concentrations used to synthesize the Al Zr supports. The NiWS/Al Zr catalysts were prepared with ammonium metatungstate hydrate and nickel(II) nitrate hexahydrate by sequential incipient impregnation, calcination, and HS/H activation.

Solvothermal synthesis of mesoporous materials based on amphiphilic molecules as structure-directing agents can be enhanced using non-conventional technologies for stirring and thermal activation. Here, we disclose a green synthesis approach for the preparation of cerium-modified hexagonally ordered silica sieves. Ultrasound micromixing enabled us to obtain well-dispersed Ce in the self-assembled silica network and yielded ordered materials with high cerium content (Ce/Si molar ratio = 0.

In this work, the desorption of furfural, which is a competitive intermediate during the production of biofuel and valuable aromatic compounds, was studied using pure alumina, as well as alumina impregnated with iron and platinum oxides both individually and in combination, using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The bimetallic sample exhibited the lowest desorption percentage for furfural. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) imaging revealed the intimate connection between the iron and platinum oxide species on the alumina support.
