Renal and Adrenal Minilaparoscopy: A Prospective Multicentric Study.

Objective: To investigate the role of contemporary minilaparoscopy (ML; 3 mm instruments and laparoscope) and to identify predictive factors for complications in a prospective multicenter series for renal and adrenal surgeries.

Materials And Methods: From July 2013 to December 2014, 110 patients from 6 laparoscopic Spanish centers were enrolled. A common database was used and data were collected in a prospective manner.

Repeated spurious elevation of serum prostate-specific antigen values solved by chemiluminescence analysis: A possible interference by heterophilic antibodies.

Heterophilic antibodies are human immunoglobulins directed against various animal antigens. They can produce false-positive results in the analysis of different tumor markers, including prostate-specific antigen. This interference can lead to misdiagnosis, unnecessary tests, and overtreatment in some cases.

[Early ultrasound detection of renal tumors in patients with end stage renal disease in dialysis].

Objectives: Patients with end stage renal disease in dialysis are a population susceptible to suffer various types of cancers, mainly in the kidney and urinary tract. These tissues suffer systemic carcinogenic effects, including all that result from chemical and immunological changes secondary to renal failure, from the treatment they receive and dialysis itself. In the present article we determine the clinical, epidemiological, and pathological characteristics of patients with chronic renal failure in dialysis who presented renal tumors during the evolution of their disease over the last ten years.
