A bimetallic FeCu/NC core-shell catalyst, consisting in nanoparticles where zero-valent Fe and Cu atoms, slightly oxidized on their surface, are encapsulated by carbon has been successfully prepared by modifying the synthesis route of MIL(Fe)-88B. FeCu/NC possessed well-balanced textural and electrochemical properties. According to voltammetric responses, in-situ Fe(III) reduction to Fe(II) by low-valent Cu was feasible, whereas the high double-layer capacitance confirmed the presence of a great number of electroactive sites that was essential for continuous HO activation to OH via Fenton's reaction.

Conventional electro-Fenton (EF) process at acidic pH ∼3 is recognized as a highly effective strategy to degrade organic pollutants; however, homogeneous metal catalysts cannot be employed in more alkaline media. To overcome this limitation, pyrolytic derivatives from metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have emerged as promising heterogeneous catalysts. Cu-based MOFs were prepared using trimesic acid as the organic ligand and different pyrolysis conditions, yielding a set of nano-Cu/C catalysts that were analyzed by conventional methods.

The Iberian pig breed includes several well-differentiated strains. The present study evaluated carcass traits, fat deposition and muscle expression of important lipogenic genes (, , , , , and using 65 male pigs of 3 Iberian strains (20 Lampiño, 23 Torbiscal, and 22 Retinto) finished either in a conventional, concentrate-based system (CF) or in (MF), a traditional free-range system with acorn feeding. Torbiscal had the highest ham, and prime cuts yields, and the thinnest subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT).

The main aim of the present paper is to study and analyze surface roughness, shrinkage, porosity, and mechanical strength of dense yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) samples obtained by means of the extrusion printing technique. In the experiments, both print speed and layer height were varied, according to a 2 factorial design. Cuboid samples were defined, and three replicates were obtained for each experiment.

Mask image projection based on stereolithography is an additive manufactured technology based on a Frontal Photopolymerization Process. Therefore, photocurable resins are used to build-up parts layer by layer. In this paper, alumina particles have been used as a reinforcement filler in order to improve the material stress-strain behaviour.

Glucocorticoids are key regulators of glucose homeostasis and pancreatic islet function, but the gene regulatory programs driving responses to glucocorticoid signaling in islets and the contribution of these programs to diabetes risk are unknown. In this study we used ATAC-seq and RNA-seq to map chromatin accessibility and gene expression from eleven primary human islet samples cultured in vitro with the glucocorticoid dexamethasone at multiple doses and durations. We identified thousands of accessible chromatin sites and genes with significant changes in activity in response to glucocorticoids.

Herein, the novel application of FeS/C nanocomposite as a highly active, stable, and recyclable catalyst for heterogeneous electro-Fenton (EF) treatment of organic water pollutants is discussed. The simultaneous carbonization and sulfidation of an iron-based metal-organic framework (MOF) yielded well-dispersed pyrite FeS nanoparticles of ∼100 nm diameter linked to porous carbon. XPS analysis revealed the presence of doping N atoms.
