Less is more: The use of single biodegradable stenting to treat biliary anastomotic strictures in pediatric liver transplantation.

This study reports our experience of using biodegradable biliary stents (BBSs) for anastomotic biliary strictures (ABSs) in pediatric patients undergoing liver transplants. It involves the analysis of a retrospective data collection from January 2014 to January 2023, including all pediatric recipients of liver transplants in our center treated for ABSs with BBSs. In phase 1 (2014-2019), there was an initial percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography with anastomotic dilatation followed 2 weeks after a second percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography with BBS insertion.

Sirolimus to treat chronic and steroid-resistant allograft rejection-related fibrosis in pediatric liver transplantation.

This study aimed to report our experience with the use of Sirolimus (SRL) in pediatric liver transplant patients with chronic rejection or steroid-resistant rejection with hepatic fibrosis, focusing on their histological evolution. All pediatric liver transplant recipients who received off-label treatment with SRL for chronic ductopenic rejection or cortico-resistant rejection between July 2003 and July 2022 were included in the study. All nine patients included in the study showed improvement in liver enzymes and cholestasis parameters as soon as 1-month after post-SRL introduction.

Percutaneous or Endoscopic Treatment of Peripheral Bile Duct Leaks: Initial Experience with an Innovative Approach of Microcatheter-Delivered Argon Plasma Coagulation.

Purpose: Biliary ductal injuries are challenging to treat, and often lead to severe morbidity and mortality. The first-line approach involves endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography with sphincterotomy and, in case of refractory leakage, long-lasting percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage, endoscopic or percutaneous injection of sclerosing agents and/or coiling can be used. We describe a treatment procedure using microcatheter-mediated percutaneous or endoscopic argon plasma coagulation (APC).

[Pulmonary hypoplasia: An analysis of cases over a 20-year period].

Introduction: Pulmonary hypoplasia is the most frequent congenital anomaly associated with perinatal mortality.

Material And Methods: A retrospective and descriptive review was conducted on cases of patients diagnosed with pulmonary hypoplasia between 1995 and 2014 in a tertiary university hospital. An analysis was made of the prenatal imaging, clinical manifestations, post-natal diagnostic tests, treatment and management, long-term follow up, and survival data.
