MRI in suspected chest wall fractures: diagnostic value in work-related chest blunt trauma.

Objective: To describe and analyze MRI findings in suspected early fractures of the chest (ribs and sternum) and assess if this technique can add value in occupational medicine.

Materials And Methods: In this retrospective study, we reviewed 112 consecutive patients with work-related mild closed chest trauma who underwent early thoracic MRI, when there was not a clear fracture on radiograph or when the symptoms were intense and not explained by radiographic findings. MRI was evaluated by two experienced radiologists independently.

Usefulness of magnetic resonance enterography in the clinical decision-making process for patients with inflammatory bowel disease.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of magnetic resonance enterography (MRE) diagnosis on clinical decision-making regarding treatment choice and maintenance of treatment over time in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Methods: A cohort of patients who underwent MRE for IBD assessment between 2011 and 2014 was analyzed. From clinical records, we retrospectively retrieved their demographic data and clinical data on their IBD at the time of MRE, the results of MRE and the patient's clinical course.

Self-expanding metal stents are an established treatment for malignant colon strictures, either as palliative treatment or as a bridge to later surgery. Little data exist regarding the use of stents for benign obstructions and the rate of subsequent complications related to the procedure is high. After reviewing the existing literature, we found only one case of stent placement in an intestinal obstruction caused by endometriosis, as a bridge to surgery.

The value of cardiac magnetic resonance in patients with acute coronary syndrome and normal coronary arteries.

Introduction And Objectives: A number of different conditions can present with symptoms similar to acute coronary syndrome (ACS): chest pain, electrocardiographic changes and elevated levels of markers of myocardial damage. Even after coronary angiography has been performed, differential diagnosis can be challenging. The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) for diagnosing conditions that present like ACS but in which the coronary arteries are normal.

[Diagnosis of acute myocarditis by contrast-enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance imaging].
