Background: COVID-19 can course with respiratory and extrapulmonary disease. SARS-CoV-2 RNA is detected in respiratory samples but also in blood, stool and urine. Severe COVID-19 is characterized by a dysregulated host response to this virus.

Mortality Reduction and Long-Term Compliance with Surviving Sepsis Campaign: A Nationwide Multicenter Study.

Purpose: To determine the long-term degree of compliance with the Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC) bundles and related outcomes after an educational program in septic patients admitted to a network of intensive care units (ICU).

Methods: Prospective, observational, multicenter study in several ICUs during a 5-month period for evaluating the degree of compliance with the SSC bundles of resuscitation in the first 6 h (B6H) and management in the following 24 h (B24H). We compared the findings with those from a historical cohort at the same ICUs after an educational program (EDUSEPSIS) 5 years earlier.

[Catheter-related central venous thrombosis in the course of an uncomplicated acute myocardial infarction: diagnostic usefulness of echocardiography].

In certain cases such as cancer patients or patients with coagulopathies, the venous thrombosis is a frequent complication that is associated with the implantation of central venous catheters. However, it is uncommon in other contexts, such as acute myocardial infarction without complications in its fifth day of evolution, after being treated with platelet inhibitors in addition to the initial anticoagulant and fibrinolytic therapy. We present a case of thrombosis in the superior vena cava and in the right atrium related to a peripherally inserted central catheter in this clinical context.
