The lung immune prognostic index (LIPI) has been proposed as a new categorical blood-based biomarker to select advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients for anti-programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) or programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) therapy. In this study, we investigate for the first time to the best of our knowledge the prognostic and predictive utility of the LIPI in a multicenter nivolumab monotherapy-based cohort. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. The most common type, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), is further divided into two main types, squamous cell and non-squamous cell (which includes adenocarcinoma).
