Recent investigations point at the stromal microenvironment to assess additional diagnostic information and provide new therapeutic targets in cancer. The aim of the study was to contribute to the characterization of the phenotype of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in prostate cancer (PCa) compared with normal prostate-associated fibroblasts (NAFs) and fibroblasts from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Three patient populations were prospectively recruited: 23 patients with new localized PCa, 14 patients with advanced PCa treated with androgenic deprivation therapy (ADT), and 7 patients with BPH.

Objective: The increase of healthcare pressure in Emergency Departments compels us to have a better understanding of patients' characteristics and the pathology they consult for. This is the first study that estimates the waiting time in the emergency room and the factors that are independently related with hospital admission.

Methods: Descriptive and retrospective study of 2.

Background: Management of active surveillance (AS) in low-risk prostate cancer (PCa) patients could be improved with new biomarkers, such as the 4Kscore test. We analyze its ability to predict tumor reclassification by upgrading at the confirmatory biopsy at 6 months.

Methods: Observational, prospective, blinded, and non-randomized study, within the Spanish National Registry on AS (AEU/PIEM/2014/0001; NCT02865330) with 181 patients included after initial Bx and inclusion criteria: PSA ≤10 ng/mL, cT1c-T2a, Grade group 1, ≤2 cores, and ≤5 mm/50% length core involved.

Objectives: To review the pathological criteria used to select patients for active surveillance, the optimization of biopsies and the role of confirmatory biopsy and of the transperineal approach.

Methods: A bibliographic revision of the last years about active surveillance in prostate cancer as well as prostate biopsy, optimal rebiopsy protocols and transperineal approach has been carried out.

Results: Misclassification of insignificant disease based on pathological criteria of the first standard biopsy range from 20% to 30% of men.

Objectives: Prostate cancer tends to spread to regional lymph nodes and bone, and, to a lesser degree, to lung, liver, and brain. Metastases in other locations are exceptional. To review the frequency and clinical characteristics of metastasis to subcutaneous cellular tissue in adenocarcinoma of the prostate.

Background And Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the significance of anemia as well as other prognostic factors influencing survival in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC).

Patients And Methods: A retrospective review of data of 316 patients who underwent surgery between 1970 and 2003 was performed. Most important known prognostic factors of RCC were investigated.

Objective: We report one case of gonadal stromal testicular tumor and perform a bibliographic review.

Methods/results: We present the case of a 42 year-old male patient consulting for a painless right testicular mass. Orchiectomy was performed and the patient underwent follow-up.

Objective: We report one case of ovarian metastasis secondary to a renal clear cell carcinoma.

Methods/results: 52 year-old consulting for metrorrhagia with the initial diagnosis of primary ovarian carcinoma. Tumor dissemination work up tests reported a renal mass suggestive of ovarian metastasis.

Objectives: To evaluate the prognostic significance of the 2002 TNM tumor classification for renal cell carcinoma, as well as other factors intervening in its survival.

Methods: Retrospective chart review of 316 renal carcinomas operated between 1970 and 2003. Twenty-five prognostic variables were analyzed.

Objectives: To review the influence of various intravesical treatments on superficial bladder cancer recurrence.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 473 superficial bladder neoplasias. Based on diagnosis and transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TUR BT), and depending on pathology, we proposed different adjuvant treatment and follow-up schemes.

Objectives: To review the influence of various intravesical treatments on superficial bladder cancer progression.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 473 superficial bladder neoplasias. Based on diagnosis and transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TUR BT), and depending on pathology, we proposed different treatment and follow-up schemes, with BCG in 139 cases and intravesical chemotherapy, mainly Mytomicin C, in 80.

Objectives: The objective of this prospective study is to establish an appropriate cutoff value of urinary CYFRA 21.1 assay and to assess its utility combined with voided cytology and/or haemoglobin dipstick in the follow-up of patients with superficial bladder cancer.

Methods: From December 2000 to November 2003, 446 patients in follow-up for superficial bladder cancer (Ta-T1) after transurethral resection of the bladder (TURB) were included in a prospective study.

Objectives: Syphilis is a systemic disease the course of which follows successive clinical stages. Central nervous system and spinal cord involvement on late phases may lead to bladder dysfunction. We report one case of neurosyphilis with associated bladder hyperreflexia.

Objectives: To report the first case of spontaneous regression of renal vein and inferior vena cava thrombus in a patient with renal clear cell carcinoma.

Methods/results: We describe the case of a woman with the diagnosis of renal mass with venous thrombus of the renal vein and inferior vena cava. Extension studies before radical nephrectomy showed regression of the thrombus which was confirmed during nephrectomy.

Objectives: To evaluate the impact of the lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) included in the IPSS on the quality of life and to determine the relationship between quality of life or total IPSS score and treatment.

Methods: Retrospective review of the IPSS questionnaire in 125 male patients who had consulted for LUTS between January 2001 and December 2003. Results were included in an Access database.

Objectives: To report one case of urethral angioleiomyoma because of the rare site, and to review its main characteristics.

Methods: We report one case of male urethra angioleiomyoma presenting with obstructive symptoms.

Objectives: We report the case of a patient who had underwent surgery for a clear cell renal carcinoma 2 years before presenting with metastasic extension to bladder on follow-up.

Methods: Radiological finding of a bladder mass during follow-up after nephrectomy.

Results: TURBT was carried out with the pathologic report of clear cell carcinoma, compatible with a primary renal origin.

Methods: The case of a 45-year-old male patient who underwent radical nephrectomy for a localized renal cell carcinoma (T2N0M0) in 1995 was found in a review of malignant renal neoplastic pathology.

Results: Seven years later he presented with a lung metastasis requiring neumonectomy, and an ocular metastasis requiring enucleation.
