Different operative procedures have been described, often combined with coronary bypass grafting. Active infective endocarditis (IE) with multivalvular involvement, the most severe form of IE, requires a demanding clinical and surgical management. Clinical guidelines describe the operative approach to multivalvular involvement as challenging with subpar postoperative outcomes. Quadruple valvular IE remains a rare clinical phenomenon, with high mortality rates and poor surgical outcomes.

Lung transplant (LT) is a life-saving treatment for patients with end-stage lung disease. Background: Aortic dissection (AD) is an uncommon but life-threatening condition associated with high morbidity and mortality. Hypertension (HTN) and hyperlipidemia (HLD) are common modifiable risk factors.

Objectives: Since bariatric surgery is associated with remission of obesity-related co-morbidities, we hypothesize that surgical weight loss might be protective against this feared aortic pathology.
