Osteoporotic hip fractures are common in our setting. Poor bone quality favors complications of the osteosynthesis procedures used to treat these patients. Lag-screw cut-out through the femoral head is not uncommon (2%), but pull-out of side plate screws is very unusual.

Patellar fractures are unusual in total knee arthroplasty without patellar resurfacing. We present 2 such cases that occurred within postoperative 2 months and were managed conservatively. Both patients had their knee function preserved.
