The first 1001 days: A scoping review of parenting interventions strengthening good enough parenting in parents with intellectual disabilities.

There are concerns about parents' parenting skills with intellectual disabilities. However, it is reported that parents with intellectual disabilities show good enough parenting if they are supported effectively and in line with their needs. This scoping review identifies and critically evaluates preventive interventions for parents with intellectual disabilities a cumulation of multiple and complex problems that aim to prepare them for good enough parenting.

Longitudinal Associations Between Depressive Symptoms and Quality of Romantic Relationships in Late Adolescence.

While youth with higher levels of depressive symptoms appear to have lower quality romantic relationships, little is known about longitudinal associations for both men and women. Therefore, this study used longitudinal dyadic design to examine both concurrent and longitudinal associations between depressive symptoms and positive as well as negative aspects of romantic relationship quality across two waves one- or two-years apart. The sample consisted of 149 Dutch stable heterosexual couples (149 females and 142 males participated at T) in a stable romantic relationship in late adolescence with a mean age of 20.

Contribution of cervical cytology in the diagnostic work-up of patients with endometrial cancer.

Introduction: Abnormal cervical cytology in patients with endometrial cancer (EC) has been associated with poor outcome. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether cervical cytology could contribute to an improved preoperative identification of high-grade EC (serous, clear cell, carcinosarcoma, high-grade endometrioid EC) in final histology.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed in five hospitals in the Netherlands.

Thermal exposure of adult Chinook salmon in the Willamette River basin.

Radiotelemetry and archival temperature loggers were used to reconstruct the thermal experience of adult spring Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) in the highly regulated Willamette River system in Oregon. The study population is threatened and recovery efforts have been hampered by episodically high prespawn mortality that is likely temperature mediated. Over three years, 310 salmon were released with thermal loggers and 68 were recovered in spawning tributaries, primarily at hatchery trapping facilities downstream from high-head dams.

Determinants of health concentration selection among University of Southern California MSW students.

By 2020, health care social workers are projected to make up 25 percent of the entire number of professional social workers in the United States. At the University of Southern California, the number of graduate students selecting the health social work concentration has increased exponentially over the last five years. Although there are no published findings to indicate that other schools of social work are experiencing a similar trend, the Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported that, nationally, the number of social workers employed in health care has increased and is projected to continue increasing over the next decade.

High-temperature chlorination-reduction sequence for the preparation of silicon hydride modified silica surfaces.

A general method for the functionalization of silica surfaces with silicon hydride (Si-H) groups is described for four different preparations of silica. The silica surface is reduced in a two-step chlorination-reduction procedure within a simple gas-flow system at high temperatures. After initial dehydroxylation of the silica surface, silicon chloride groups are formed by the reaction with thionyl chloride.

Preferences for accepting prescribed community-based, psychosocial, and in-home services by older adults.

The purpose of this study was to describe the preferences of minority and non-Hispanic White home bound older adults aged 60 and over for making decisions to accept and arrange community-based, psychosocial, and in-home services prescribed by Home Health clinical social workers (N=249). Overall, prescribed community-based, psychosocial, and in-home service referrals were accepted by participants. In-home supportive services, Short- and Long-Term Case Management, and Psychiatric Nurse were the most frequently arranged services by clinical social workers.

Areas of discharge agreement and disagreement between older adult patients and nurses.

The objectives of this study were to identify areas of agreement and disagreement between nursing staff and older adult patients about discharge needs, and to explore relationships between hospitalized older adults' perceived postdischarge Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) dependency, social networks, and quality of life. Differences between patients and nurses for the ADL scale showed that patients perceived themselves as being more independent with respect to ADLs upon discharge than did their nurses. Agreement between patients and nurses for the Quality of Life Index indicated high agreement about patients'general well-being upon discharge.

Platelets promote eosinophil adhesion of patients with asthma to endothelium under flow conditions.

During the late-phase asthmatic response, eosinophils migrate to the bronchial tissue and cause severe damage. In this study we compared in vivo primed eosinophils from patients with allergic asthma with eosinophils from healthy control subjects in their adhesion behavior to tumor necrosis factor-alpha-activated endothelium under flow conditions (0.8 dyn/cm2).

IL-8 induces a transient arrest of rolling eosinophils on human endothelial cells.

Eosinophils exhibit a rolling interaction with E-selectin-expressing endothelium, and need to be activated by inflammatory mediators to firmly adhere to this surface. This study shows that IL-8 induces a transient arrest of unprimed eosinophils that roll on E-selectin present on TNF-alpha-activated HUVEC in an in vitro flow chamber. This process was antagonized by neutralizing Abs directed against IL-8 showing the specificity of the IL-8 effect.

Evaluation of T-cell responses to peptides and lipopeptides with MHC class I binding motifs derived from the amino acid sequence of the 19-kDa lipoprotein of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) epitopes on the 19-kDa lipoprotein from Mycobacterium tuberculosis were identified by the use of lipopeptides and their cytokine profile studied. Selection of candidate CTL epitopes was based on synthetic peptides derived from the amino acid sequence of the 19-kDa lipoprotein showing major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC-I) binding motifs (H-2D(b) and H-2L(d)). Their ability to up-regulate and stabilize MHC-I molecules on the mouse lymphoma cell line RMA-S was studied.

Induction of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) by vaccination has been shown to protect against bacterial, viral, and tumoral challenge. The aim of this study was to identify CTL epitopes on the 38-kDa lipoglycoprotein from Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
