Vaccine-induced hypermetabolic lymph nodes have been clinically observed following coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) mRNA vaccination. Specifically, the booster dose of the mRNA vaccines, produced by Pfizer and Moderna, has been linked to a relatively high incidence of lymphadenopathy. We present the case of a kidney transplant recipient who developed an enlarged abdominal mass after receiving a booster dose of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine.

Monopolar radiofrequency (RF) non-invasively tightens and rejuvenates the skin by stimulating collagen fiber production. Since the introduction of the monopolar RF device in the early 2000's, RF devices have advanced and they can rejuvenate of periorbital and forehead wrinkles, as well as skin laxity of the lower face and neck. We compared the differences in the treatment effects based on the tip size.

Several vaccines for COVID-19 have been developed and proven effective in decreasing the incidence of COVID-19 and the rate of progression to severe COVID-19. However, breakthrough infections have also been reported in vaccinated patients.

A total of 4117 first-time kidney transplant recipients were enrolled from a prospective nationwide cohort in Korea.

Methods: We analyzed 179 recipients who received kidney transplantation from March 2016 and September 2018. In 179 recipients, 114 patients maintained an immunosuppressive regimen including steroids (steroid continuation [SC] group).
Background: Favorable long-term and short-term graft survival and patient survival after kidney transplantation (KT) from deceased donors with acute kidney injury (AKI) have been reported. However, few studies have evaluated effects of donor AKI status on graft outcomes after KT in Asian population. Thus, the purpose of this study was to evaluate graft function after KTs from donors with AKI compared to matched KTs from donors without AKI using a multicenter cohort in Korea.

Functional fertilisers for hydroponics are in great demand. Herein, we isolated peptides from mackerel by-products, a valuable source of bioactive peptides. The pellet-phase fraction obtained after cold-acetone extraction exhibited plant growth-promoting activity in wheat hydroponics, and the presumed peptides were determined to be ≤ 1 kDa based on molecular weight cut-off and tricine-sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.

Methods: This was a multicenter prospective cohort study. Of the 168 subjects enrolled in this study, we analyzed a total 87 kidney transplant recipients without diabetes which was assessed by oral glucose tolerance test before transplantation.
Transplant renal artery stenosis (TRAS) is one cause of allograft dysfunction. TRAS causes parenchymal necrosis and graft insufficiency. Herein, we report the case of a 40-year-old female with end-stage renal disease due to immunoglobulin A nephropathy, who underwent kidney transplantation with her elder sister.

We analyzed outcomes of kidney transplantation (KT) from elderly DDs in a nationwide study. In total, data of 1049 KTs from DDs using the database of Korean Organ Transplantation Registry (KOTRY) were retrospectively analyzed based on the age of DDs: age ≥60 years vs.

However, critical and prolonged cell stress triggers cell death. In this study, we demonstrate that Flightless-1 (FliI) regulates ER stress-induced apoptosis in colon cancer cells by modulating Ca homeostasis.

Background: Hyperlipidemia and cardiovascular disease are risk factors for long-term renal transplant dysfunction. However, no meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials have investigated the effects of statin treatment on graft function in renal transplant recipients. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of statin use on renal transplant patients using a meta-analysis approach.

We compared ATG effectiveness in kidney transplantation according to dosage and administration schedule.
Methods: Reports from 1970 until May 2018 in CENTRAL, MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Science Citation Index Expanded were searched.
Introduction: Valganciclovir (VGCV) prophylaxis of 900 mg twice daily for 6 months is recommended to prevent cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection, which is a major cause of decreased graft and patient survival in kidney transplant recipients. However, recent studies have shown the efficacy of 900 mg once daily for 3 to 6 months. Maintaining VGCV compliance is difficult because of high drug costs and side effects, such as thrombocytopenia and leukopenia.

However, most studies on MZR have been performed in Japan, and there remains a lack of reports on long-term use in other countries. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of MZR's use in Korean kidney transplant recipients by observing their clinical courses and analyzing their long-term patent and graft survival rates.

Methods: We retrospectively compared the Micropuncture kit with the standard 18-gauge Angiocath IV catheter for tunneled cuffed catheter insertion in the right jugular vein.
Background: The benefit of access flow surveillance in preventing vascular access thrombosis and failure remains controversial, as many randomized clinical trials (RCTs) have failed to demonstrate consistent results. The aim of this study was to perform a meta-analysis including newly published RCTs with a subgroup analysis for arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) and arteriovenous grafts (AVGs).
Methods: A systematic review of the available literature was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses.

To help remedy damage from harmful algal blooms, an attempt was made to isolate an algicidal substance previously observed to be present in mackerel muscle hydrolysate. Crude extract was obtained by cold acetone precipitation, and it dissolved best in water. Through molecular weight cut-off determination and tricine-SDS PAGE, the algicidal substance was determined to be a peptide of <1 kDa.

BACKGROUND Minimizing the tacrolimus dosage in patients with stable allograft function needs further investigation. MATERIAL AND METHODS We performed an open-label, randomized, controlled study from 2010 to 2016 in 7 tertiary teaching hospitals in Korea and enrolled 345 kidney transplant recipients with a stable graft status. The study group received reduced-dose tacrolimus, 1080-1440 mg/day of enteric-coated mycophenolate sodium (EC-MPS), and corticosteroids.
