As a widely-applied alternative therapy, acupuncture is gaining popularity in Western society. One challenge that remains, however, is incorporating it into mainstream medicine. One solution is to combine acupuncture with other conventional, mainstream treatments.

KCP10043F showed both weaker T-type Ca(2+) channel blocking activity and less cytotoxicity against A549 cells than parent compound KYS05090S [4-(benzylcarbamoylmethyl)-3-(4-biphenylyl)-2-(N,N',N'-trimethyl-1,5-pentanediamino)-3,4-dihydroquinazoline 2 hydrochloride], but it exhibited more potent G1-phase arrest than KYS05090S in A549 cells.

KYS-05090 showed the highest potency as a TRPV1 antagonist, even higher than that of the open-pore triazine inhibitor 8aA. The latter showed quite remarkable agonist/desensitizer activity at the rat recombinant TRPM8 channel.

Methods: The experimental animals were divided into two groups, one is non-implanted sham and the other is 3LL-implanted group. Samples were collected from the two regions of stomach (fundus and pylorus) at 28 d after implantation of 3LL cells (1 x 10(5) cell/mouse).
This study was undertaken to evaluate various indicators for the prediction of the microbial quality of pork and beef loins during cold storage at 0 and 4 degrees C under aerobic conditions. Fresh loins of beef and pork were packaged aerobically and stored at 0 +/- 1 degrees C for 22 days and at 4 +/- 1 degrees C for 12 days or until the total plate counts (TPCs) for these loins exceeded 10(8) CFU/ml. During storage, samples were taken periodically for the measurement of TPCs, psychrotrophic bacterial counts, amine contents, volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) values, thiobarbituric acid values, D-glucose contents, L-lactate contents, pH, and electrical conductivity.
