This study focuses on reducing the weight of oxygen respirators in firefighters' personal protective equipment (PPE), which currently accounts for about 56% of the total weight. The heavy PPE, weighing between 20 and 25 kg, restricts movement and can lead to musculoskeletal injuries. To address this, the study investigates using a carbon fiber-reinforced composite for the backrest of the oxygen respirator to reduce weight while maintaining strength.

We investigated the prevalence, etiologies and predictors of false-positive diagnosis of STEMI and subsequent inappropriate catheterization laboratory activation in patients with presumptive diagnosis of STEMI.
Subjects And Methods: Four hundred fifty-five consecutive patients (62±13 years, 345 males) with presumptive diagnosis of STEMI between August 2008 and November 2010 were included.
Fabry disease is a progressive X-linked disorder of glycosphingolipid metabolism caused by a deficiency of the α-galactosidase lysosomal enzyme. The partial or complete deficiency of the lysosomal enzyme leads to an accumulation of neutral glycosphingolipids in the vascular endothelium and visceral tissues throughout the body. In the heart, glycosphingolipids deposition causes progressive left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH).
