Influenza epidemics arise through the acquisition of viral genetic changes to overcome immunity from previous infections. An increasing number of complete genomes of influenza viruses have been sequenced in Asia in recent years. Knowledge about the genomes of the seasonal influenza viruses from different countries in Asia is valuable for monitoring and understanding of the emergence, migration and evolution of strains.

Objective: Hemodialysis (HD) and continuous venovenous hemodiafiltration (CVVHDF) have been adopted as forms of renal replacement therapy (RRT) in patients with acute renal failure (ARF). Although CVVHDF has many advantages, previous studies reported no definite improvement in survival rate compared to HD.

Material And Methods: In this retrospective study, 148 intensive care unit patients underwent HD (70 males, 25 females; mean age 45 +/- 17 years) or CVVHDF (42 males, 11 females; mean age 52 +/- 18 years).

Suction lipoplasty is practiced popularly for obesity control and cosmetic purposes and severe complications are rare. We report the first documented case of acute renal failure, with anuric period, that developed after excessive bleeding following cosmetic liposuction. The use of homocoagulase and the presence of rhabdomyolysis might have contributed to the acute renal failure and disseminated intravascular coagulation observed in this case.
