We aimed to compare artificial intelligence (AI)-based coronary stenosis evaluation of coronary CT angiography (CCTA) with its quantitative counterpart of invasive coronary angiography (ICA) and invasive fractional flow reserve (FFR). This single-center retrospective study included 195 symptomatic patients (mean age 61 ± 10 years, 149 men, 585 coronary arteries) with 215 intermediate coronary lesions, with quantitative coronary angiography (QCA) diameter stenosis ranging from 20-80%. An AI-driven research prototype (AI-CCTA) was used to quantify stenosis on CCTA images.

Overexpression of transglutaminase 2 (TGase 2; TG2) has been implicated in the progression of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) through the inactivation of p53 by forming a protein complex. Because most p53 in RCC has no mutations, apoptosis can be increased by inhibiting the binding between TG2 and p53 to increase the stability of p53. In the present study, a novel TG2 inhibitor was discovered by investigating the structure of 1H-benzo[d]imidazole-4,7-dione as a simpler chemotype based on the amino-1,4-benzoquinone moiety of streptonigrin, a previously reported inhibitor.

As cryogenic electron microscopy (cryoEM) gains traction in the structural biology community as a method of choice for determining atomic structures of biological complexes, it has been increasingly recognized that many complexes that behave well under conventional negative-stain electron microscopy tend to have preferential orientation, aggregate or simply mysteriously "disappear" on cryoEM grids, but the reasons for such misbehavior are not well understood, limiting systematic approaches to solving the problem. Here, we have developed a theoretical formulation that explains these observations. Our formulation predicts that all particles migrate to the air-water interface (AWI) to lower the total potential surface energy - rationalizing the use of surfactant, which is a direct solution to reducing the surface tension of the aqueous solution.

In previous work, we showed that cancer cells do not depend on glycolysis for ATP production, but they do on fatty acid oxidation. However, we found some cancer cells induced cell death after glucose deprivation along with a decrease of ATP production. This article shows experimentally that an external electric field affects the velocity of the longitudinal acoustic phonons (), thermal conductivity (κ), and diffusivity () in a bulk lead zirconium titanate-based ferroelectric. Phonon conduction dominates κ, and the observations are due to changes in the phonon dispersion, not in the phonon scattering. InZnP:Ag nano-rods fabricated by the ion milling method were thermally annealed in the 250~350 °C temperature range and investigated the optimum thermal annealing conditions to further understand the mutual correlation between the optical properties and the microscopic magnetic properties. The formation of InZnP:Ag nano-rods was determined from transmission electron microscopy (TEM), total reflectivity and Raman scattering analyses. The downward shifts of peak position for LO and TO modes in the Raman spectrum are indicative of the production of Ag ion-induced strain during the annealing process of the InZnP:Ag nano-rod samples.
