Relationship between physicians' perceived stigma toward depression and physician referral to psycho-oncology services on an oncology/hematology ward.

Objective: This study was performed to identify relationships between physicians' perceived stigma toward depression and psycho-oncology service utilization on an oncology/hematology ward.

Methods: The study participants were 235 patients in an oncology/hematology ward and 14 physicians undergoing an internal medicine residency training program in Inha University Hospital (Incheon, South Korea). Patients completed the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), and residents completed the Perceived Devaluation-Discrimination scale that evaluates perceived stigma toward depression.

A Case of Solitary Brain Metastasis from Uterine Mullerian Adenosarcoma with Sarcomatous Overgrowth.

Uterine adenosarcoma (AS) are rare tumors and have more favorable outcomes than the aggressive uterine carcinosarcomas. Uterine adenosarcoma with sarcomatous overgrowth (ASSO) is a variant form of AS and exhibits aggressive growth of tumor and the prognosis is relatively poor compared with typical AS. Usually patterns of metastasis have been known to behave like endometrial carcinoma and spread through the lymphatics.

Treatment outcomes of gemcitabine alone versus gemcitabine plus platinum for advanced biliary tract cancer: a Korean Cancer Study Group retrospective analysis.

Purpose: ABC-02 trial of gemcitabine plus cisplatin combination showed prolongation of overall survival in biliary tract cancer (BTC) patients. In this multicenter retrospective study, we evaluated the treatment outcome of gemcitabine combined with platinum (GP) compared to that of gemcitabine (G) alone in Korean BTC patients.

Methods: One hundred and fifty-one patients with histologically confirmed biliary tract adenocarcinoma were enrolled at nine institutions between July 2003 and May 2011, including 100 treated with GP and 51 treated with G.

Combination treatment of antiplatelet drugs containing aspirin and clopidogrel reduces systemic ischemic events after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in high risk patients. However, this combination treatment of antiplatelet drugs is associated with increased risk of nonfatal and fatal bleeding. Diffuse alveolar hemorrhage after PCI is a rare complication that has been mostly reported in association with glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors.
