White organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) represent a significant technology in the display industry for the achievement of full color. However, sophisticated technologies are required for white light emission. In this paper, we developed a simple white light-emitting display device using a quantum-dot (QD) film and a greenish-blue OLED.

In this report, we uncovered a new master regulator of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. When ubiquitin E3 ligase β-TrCP2 was inducibly knocked out in β-TrCP1 knockout adult mice, the resulting double knockout mice (DKO) lost fat mass rapidly.

In the current study, we deciphered the effects of LY6K on transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) and epidermal growth factor (EGF) signaling through clathrin- and caveolin-1 (CAV-1)-mediated endocytosis.
Methods: Analysis of the TCGA and GTEx dataset were performed to explore the expression and survival of LY6K in cancer patients.
Metastatic spread of cancer cells is the main cause of cancer-related death. As cancer cells adapt themselves in a suspended state in the blood stream before penetration and regrowth at distal tissues, understanding their survival strategy in an anchorage-independent condition is important to develop appropriate therapeutics. We have previously generated adapted suspension cells (ASCs) from parental adherent cancer cells to study the characteristics of circulating tumor cells.

Here, we demonstrate a resonance-type many-body ground state in graphene, a nonmagnetic two-dimensional Dirac semimetal, when grown on SmB, a Kondo insulator, via thermal decomposition of fullerene molecules. This ground state is typically observed in three-dimensional magnetic materials with correlated electrons.

Here, we demonstrate that IK, a spliceosomal component, plays a crucial role in the proper splicing of the pre-mRNA among other genes related with the DNA Damage Response (DDR). Intron 1 in the pre-mRNA, having lengths <200 bp, was not spliced in the IK-depleted cells and led to a deficiency of the ATM protein.

Objective: To explain the high prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in WRA in Dhaka, Bangladesh, we compared the vitamin D status of pregnant women with that of their husbands and between pregnant and nonpregnant states.
Methods: This study was an observational substudy of the Maternal Vitamin D for Infant Growth trial conducted in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Characterization of circulating tumor cells (CTC) is important to prevent death caused by the metastatic spread of cancer cells because CTC are associated with distal metastasis and poor prognosis of breast cancer. We have previously developed suspension cells (SC) using breast cancer cell lines and demonstrated their high metastatic potential. As survival of CTC is highly variable from a few hours to decades, herein we cultured SC for an extended time and named them adapted suspension cells (ASC).

The primary cilium is generated from the basal body, and cancerous inhibitor of protein phosphatase 2A (CIP2A), the overexpression of which stabilizes c-MYC to support the malignant growth of tumor cells, is localized in the centrosome. Here, we show that CIP2A overexpression induces primary cilia disassembly through the activation of Aurora A kinase, and CIP2A depletion increases ciliated cells and cilia length in retinal pigment epithelium (RPE1) cells.

Numerous studies have characterized CTCs as metastatic precursors; however, the molecular nature of CTCs has not been completely revealed yet due to the low number of CTCs in the blood stream. As an alternative approach, we developed a long-term suspension cell culture model using human breast cancer cell lines to mimic CTCs.

In the present study, the underlying mechanism by which hypoxia-induced IL-32β stability is regulated was investigated in ovarian cancer cells. IL-32β expression increased under hypoxic conditions in ovarian cancer cells as it did in breast cancer cells.

Bisphenol A (BPA), a ubiquitous endocrine disruptor that is present in many household products, has been linked to obesity, cancer, and, most relevant here, childhood neurological disorders such as anxiety and hyperactivity. However, how BPA exposure translates into these neurodevelopmental disorders remains poorly understood. Here, we used zebrafish to link BPA mechanistically to disease etiology.
