We examined cultural specificity in how adolescents' coping strategies in response to peer victimization are associated with adjustment with a sample of 7th-8th graders from the United States (n = 292, 60% female, M = 13.6, SD = 0.65) and South Korea (n = 462, 50.

To address this issue, adolescents from the U.S.

Purpose: To examine the relationship between menarcheal age and anthropometric indices and menstrual irregularity in late adolescent girls in Seoul.
Methods: We surveyed 4,218 fertile adolescent girls between the ages of 16 and 18 years to determine their anthropometric indices and menarcheal age. Measurements were taken from June 2008 to October 2009 at seven girl's high schools in Seoul, Korea.
Purpose: Eosinophilia is common in premature infants, and its incidence increases with a shorter gestation period. We investigated the clinical significance of eosinophilia in premature infants born at <34 weeks gestation.
Methods: We analyzed the medical records of premature infants born at <34 weeks gestation who were admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit at Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital between January 2003 and September 2010.
Background: Fixed-dose combination drugs may enhance blood pressure (BP) goal attainment through complementary effects and reduced side effects, which leads to better compliance.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety profiles of once-daily combination amlodipine/losartan versus losartan.
Methods: This was an 8-week, double-blind, multicenter, randomized phase III study conducted in outpatient hospital clinics.
Background: The number of hypertensive patients achieving treatment targets is not ideal with therapies that engage a single mechanism of action, and combination therapies using different mechanisms of action can increase drug efficacy in a synergistic way.
Objective: This noninferiority study compared the clinical efficacy and safety profile of fixed-dose combination of amlodipine/losartan 5/50 mg and amlodipine 10 mg monotherapy in essential hypertensive patients who respond poorly to amlodipine 5 mg monotherapy.
Methods: This was a double-blind, multicenter, randomized trial of hypertensive patients (N = 185) aged ≥18 years taking amlodipine 5 mg during the run-in treatment period but failed to achieve sitting diastolic blood pressure (DBP) <90 mm Hg.
Backgrounds: Recent studies have shown that thermal therapy by means of warm waterbaths and sauna has beneficial effects in chronic heart failure. However, a comprehensive investigation of the hemodynamic effects of thermal vasodilation on coronary arteries has not been previously undertaken. In this study, we studied the effect of a warm footbath (WFB) on coronary arteries in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD), as well as any adverse effect.

Materials And Methods: A total of 120 patients with stable angina scheduled for elective PCI were randomly assigned to a 7-day pretreatment with Cilostazol (200 mg/day) or to a control group.
The percutaneous transfemoral approach has been routinely used for cardiac catheterization and coronary angioplasty. Local vascular complications following angioplasty are seen in 5% to 10% of patients, especially in those who need prolonged anticoagulation. Transradial access for coronary procedures dramatically reduces access site complications.

Methods And Results: We analyzed 3,612 consecutive patients (4,419 lesions) who underwent follow-up angiography after DES implantation.
Purpose: Previous studies suggested that asymmetric stent expansion did not affect suppression of neointimal hyperplasia (NIH) after sirolimus-eluting stents (SES) implantation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of stent eccentricity (SE) on NIH between SES versus paclitaxel-eluting stents (PES) using an intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) analysis from the randomized trial.
Materials And Methods: Serial IVUS data were obtained from Post-stent Optimal Expansion (POET) trial, allocated randomly to SES or PES.
Background: Arterial stiffness determined by brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) has been established as a powerful predictor of cardiovascular mortality in hemodialysis (HD) patients. There are, however, few studies regarding the comparative impact of different renal replacement therapies (RRTs) on PWV. Therefore, we conducted a cross-sectional study to compare arterial wall properties and cardiac function between patients treated with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and those with HD who were matched for age, dialysis duration, and blood pressure.

Background: The current cholesterol guideline has strongly recommended reducing LDL-C to less than 70 mg/dl as the goal of therapy for very high-risk patients.
Methods: From 2003 to 2006, a total of 1347 very high-risk patients were treated with DES.
Background: There are still controversies about long-term clinical outcomes of sirolimus-eluting stents (SES) versus bare metal stents (BMS) implantation in patients with end-stage renal diseases (ESRD).
Objective: To compare long-term outcomes in patients with (ESRD) following SES versus BMS implantation.
Methods: Between March 2003 and July 2005, a total of 54 patients (80 lesions) with ESRD undergoing SES implantation [SES-ESRD] were enrolled and compared with 51 patients (54 lesions) with ESRD receiving BMS during the same periods [BMS-ESRD] in the Korean Multicenter Angioplasty Team Registry.
Background: There is some controversy on long-term cardiac outcomes between sirolimus-eluting stents (SES) and paclitaxel-eluting stents (PES) in diabetes mellitus (DM). We compared cardiac adverse events after SES and PES implantation in patients with DM over a period of 3 year.
Methods: A total of 634 patients with DM treated with SES (n = 428) or PES (n = 206) were consecutively enrolled in the KOMATE registry from 2003 to 2004.
We performed this study in order to compare the immediate and mid-term outcomes of sirolimus-eluting stents (SES) and paclitaxel-eluting stents (PES) in lesions of the unprotected left main coronary artery (LMCA). We assessed 54 patients from 5 centers who had undergone unprotected LMCA stenting (35 SES and 19 PES). The procedural success rates were 100 and 95%, respectively, in the SES and PES patients (p = 0.
