Aims: Although the neuroanatomical distribution of tau and amyloid-β is well studied in Alzheimer's disease (AD) (non)-amnestic clinical variants, that of neuroinflammation remains unexplored. We investigate the neuroanatomical distribution of activated myeloid cells, astrocytes, and complement alongside amyloid-β and phosphorylated tau in a clinically well-defined prospectively collected AD cohort.
Methods: Clinical variants were diagnosed antemortem, and brain tissue was collected post-mortem.
The language network of the human brain has core components in the inferior frontal cortex and superior/middle temporal cortex, with left-hemisphere dominance in most people. Functional specialization and interconnectivity of these neocortical regions is likely to be reflected in their molecular and cellular profiles. Excitatory connections between cortical regions arise and innervate according to layer-specific patterns.

This study aims to clarify whether a different pattern of neuroinflammation, such as alteration in microglial and astroglial morphology and distribution, is present in DLB cases with and without AD co-pathology.
Methods: The morphology and load (% area of immunopositivity) of total (Iba1) and reactive microglia (CD68 and HLA-DR), reactive astrocytes (GFAP) and proteinopathies of alpha-synuclein (KM51/pser129), amyloid-beta (6 F/3D) and p-tau (AT8) were assessed in a cohort of mixed DLB + AD (n = 35), pure DLB (n = 15), pure AD (n = 16) and control (n = 11) donors in limbic and neocortical brain regions using immunostaining, quantitative image analysis and confocal microscopy.
Background: Degeneration of the locus coeruleus (LC) noradrenergic system contributes to clinical symptoms in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD). Diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has the potential to evaluate the integrity of the LC noradrenergic system. Methods: This mixed methods study enrolled 21 graduates and 17 student pharmacists who participated in a global health concentration at one school of pharmacy in the United States. Data sources included graduate interviews and surveys, student pharmacist focus groups, and global health competency self-assessments.
Background: Motor and cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease (PD) is associated with dopaminergic dysfunction that stems from substantia nigra (SN) degeneration and concomitant α-synuclein accumulation. In this study, we aimed to investigate the distribution of neurofilaments in the cerebral cortex of Parkinson's disease (PD), PD with dementia (PDD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) donors, and its association with pathology load and MRI measures of atrophy and diffusivity.
Methods: Using a within-subject post-mortem MRI-pathology approach, we included 9 PD, 12 PDD/DLB and 18 age-matched control donors.
Recommendations for global pharmacy collaborations are predominately derived from US institutions. This study utilized semi-structured interviews of global collaborators to assess important partnership components. Interviewees stated personal connections and understanding of each other's programs/systems were key components.

Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a co mplex disease of the central nervous system involving several types of brain pathology that are difficult to characterize using conventional imaging methods.
New Method: We originated novel texture analysis and machine learning approaches for classifying MS pathology subtypes as compared with 2 common advanced MRI measures: magnetization transfer ratio (MTR) and fractional anisotropy (FA). Texture analysis used an optimized grey level co-occurrence matrix method with histology-informed 7T T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) from 15 MS and 12 control brain specimens.

The current study investigated whether presentation of canonical finger configurations gesturing numerosities 1-4 or 6-9 would facilitate young adults' behavioral and neural processing of Arabic numerals. In this mixed-methods research, 19 participating students and residents from medicine and pharmacy completed the Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale (RIPLS) before and after the service trip in fall 2017 and spring 2018. Individual semi-structured interviews were conducted with participants following each trip to better understand which aspects of the experience shaped their interprofessional learning.
