Several studies indicate that Gastrodia elata Blume, a Chinese herb, can prevent cell death caused by amyloid beta-peptides linked to Alzheimer's disease.
Researchers created a rat model of Alzheimer's by injecting amyloid beta and then treated the rats with different doses of Gastrodia elata Blume over 52 days.
The results showed improved spatial memory, reduced amyloid deposits in the brain, and increased levels of choline acetyltransferase, indicating that this herb may offer therapeutic benefits for Alzheimer's disease.
