Article Synopsis
  • Atherogenic dyslipidemia is a condition linked to type 2 diabetes that can cause serious heart problems.
  • Statins are usually the main medicine given to help lower cholesterol, but researchers want to see if combining them with other drugs like ezetimibe and fibrates can work better.
  • In a study with nearly 4,000 people, scientists will compare the effects of adding ezetimibe and fibrates to statins versus just increasing the dose of statins alone, looking for improvements over four years.

Article Synopsis
  • Cutaneous papillomas, commonly known as skin tags, typically appear after age 40, particularly in areas with skin folds, and traditional removal methods can lead to complications.
  • This study compared the effectiveness of two laser types—532 nm Nd:YAG (picosecond) and 755 nm alexandrite (long-pulsed)—for removing skin tags on a 60-year-old male patient, with both lasers showing successful results in a single treatment session.
  • Both lasers led to effective removal without bleeding or significant discomfort, with some temporary effects like erythema and crusting, but no long-lasting side effects such as scarring or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation were observed, although residual lesions were noted with the ps-

Background: The periorbital area plays an important role cosmetically. Periorbital wrinkles are attributed to long-term, repeated use of orbicularis oris muscles and UV-induced dermal collagen degeneration. Fractional microneedle radiofrequency (RF) treats scars and laxity by creating vertical channels of injury in the dermis, triggering a scarless healing cascade and neocollagenesis.

Solar lentigo (SL) commonly occurs as hyperpigmented macules in areas exposed to ultraviolet radiation. It typically shows an increased number of melanocytes in the basal cell layer of the skin, with or without elongated rete ridges. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the characteristic dermoscopic patterns, reflecting different histopathological features, which might be valuable in predicting the possibility of postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) occurring after laser treatment.
