Multidisciplinary Delphi Consensus on Safety of Combining Transarterial Radioembolization with Yttrium-90 Microspheres with Systemic Anticancer Agents for the Treatment of Liver Malignancy.

Purpose: To provide guidance, via multidisciplinary consensus statements, on the safety interactions between systemic anticancer agents (such as radiosensitizing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and peptide receptor radionuclide therapy) and transarterial radioembolization (TARE) with yttrium-90 (Y)-labeled microspheres in the treatment of primary and metastatic liver malignancies.

Materials And Methods: A literature search identified 59 references that informed 26 statements on the safety of Y TARE combined with systemic therapies. Modified Delphi method was used to develop consensus on statements through online anonymous surveys of the 12 panel members representing the fields of interventional radiology, medical oncology, surgical oncology, hepatology, and pharmacy, focusing on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC), neuroendocrine tumors, metastatic breast cancer, and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.

Aim And Objective: The present study employs gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis to investigate a pain-relieving Ayurvedic oil, Dhanwantharam Thailam, aiming to establish correlations between its medicinal activity and the biomolecules it contains.

Materials And Methods: Procured sample from a reputable Ayurvedic vendor in Chennai, Dhanwantharam Thailam underwent GC-MS analysis using standard procedures.

Background: Neurodegenerative diseases induce amnesia, and effective treatment is still elusive. Aims and Objectives: The present study highlights the ameliorating effects of Manasa Mitra Vatakam (MMV) using behavioral parameters on scopolamine-induced memory loss in female Wistar rats.

Materials And Methods: MMV was compared with DPZ as a standard in the present study to determine the behavioral parameters through elevated plus maze (Hebb William maze/rectangular maze)and locomotor activity in scopolamine-induced memory loss in female Wistar rats.

The GC-MS Analysis of Kabasura Kudineer: A Vital Siddha Drug in COVID-19 Therapy.

Introduction: This study focuses on the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis of Kabasura Kudineer, a Siddha formulation renowned for its properties against cold and exclusively utilized during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Methods: The medication was obtained from a reputable Siddha vendor in Chennai, India, and subsequently extracted and subjected to GC-MS analysis.

Results: The GC-MS profiling revealed the presence of several molecules, including benzoic acid, eugenol, alpha-ylangeneol, trans-2,4-dimethylthiane, S, S-dioxide, humulene, methyl 4,7,10,13-hexadecatetraenoate, 17-octadecynoic acid, 1-hexadecyn-3-ol, 3,7,11,15-tetramethyl, sulfurous acid, butyl heptadecyl ester, chloroacetic acid, tetradecyl ester, n-propyl cinnamate, oleyl alcohol, trifluoroacetate, 1-heptatriacotanol, and fenretinide.

Identification of Keratoconus-Related Phenotypes in Three Ppip5k2 Mouse Models.

Methods: Central corneal thickness (CCT) was determined using spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) in Ppip5k2+/K^ (n = 41 eyes), Ppip5k2K^/K^ (n = 17 eyes) and 2 knock-in mice, Ppip5k2S419A/+ (n = 54 eyes) and Ppip5k2S419A/S419A (n = 18 eyes), and Ppip5k2D843S/+ (n = 42 eyes) and Ppip5k2D843S/D843S (n = 44 eyes) at 3 and 6 months.

Objective: Little empirical evidence exists to support the effectiveness of hybrid psychiatric care, defined as care delivered through a combination of telephone, videoconferencing, and in-person visits. The authors aimed to investigate the effectiveness of hybrid psychiatric care compared with outpatient waitlist groups, assessed with patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs).

Method: Participants were recruited from an adult psychiatry clinic waitlist on which the most common primary diagnoses were unipolar depression, generalized anxiety disorder, and bipolar disorder.

Strangulated Indirect Inguinal Hernia-Containing Bladder: A Case Report.

Inguinal hernias involving the bladder are exceedingly rare and pose a diagnostic challenge. Identifying bladder involvement within an inguinal hernia is imperative to avoid iatrogenic bladder injuries and subsequent complications. Here we discuss a case of inguinal bladder herniation and bladder visualization using methylene blue dye intraoperatively.

Inflammation dynamically regulates steroid hormone metabolism and action within macrophages in rheumatoid arthritis.

Rationale: In inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), steroid metabolism is a central component mediating the actions of immuno-modulatory glucocorticoids and sex steroids. However, the regulation and function of cellular steroid metabolism within key leukocyte populations such as macrophages remain poorly defined. In this study, the inflammatory regulation of global steroid metabolism was assessed in RA macrophages.

Non-clinical, on-demand peer-to-peer (PtP) support apps have become increasingly popular over the past several years. Although not as pervasive as general self-help apps, these PtP support apps are usually free and instantly connect individuals through live texting with a non-clinical volunteer who has been minimally trained to listen and offer support. To date, there is little empirical work that examines whether and how using an on-demand PtP support app improves emotional well-being.

Could it have been predicted? A retrospective analysis of the last year of life for people who died whilst in an intermediate care centre.

Objectives: Intermediate care centres (ICCs) exist in the UK to bridge between acute hospital and home for those with rehabilitation needs. A national study shows 25% of ICC in-patients died within a year of admission. High quality end-of-life care includes early conversations with a person and their loved ones about what matters to them; timely identification of those who are likely to be nearing the end of their life is key.

Expanded genetic testing in familial hypercholesterolemia-A single center's experience.

Objective: Assess the yield of genetic testing for pathogenic variants in and in individuals with personal and family histories suggestive of familial hypercholesterolemia.

Methods: Retrospective review of patients seen in the Advanced Lipid Disorders Clinic at Johns Hopkins.

Results: In the lipid clinic at a single center during the years 2015-2023, 607 patients underwent genetic testing for familial hypercholesterolemia, of which 263 underwent the expanded genetic testing for sitosterolemia.

Financial hardship after cancer: revision of a conceptual model and development of patient-reported outcome measures.

This qualitative study refined a conceptual model of financial hardship and developed measures corresponding to model constructs. Eighteen women with breast cancer recruited through a comprehensive cancer center completed interviews. A qualitative framework analysis was conducted of the interviews.

4D intravital imaging studies identify platelets as the predominant cellular procoagulant surface in a mouse hemostasis model.

Interplay between platelets, coagulation factors, endothelial cells (ECs), and fibrinolytic factors is necessary for effective hemostatic plug formation. This study describes a 4-dimensional (4D) imaging platform to visualize and quantify hemostatic plug components in mice with high spatiotemporal resolution. Fibrin accumulation after laser-induced vascular injury was observed at the platelet plug-EC interface, controlled by the antagonistic balance between fibrin generation and breakdown.

Exploring the lived experiences and care challenges of formal paid caregivers for people with intellectual disability and dementia.

A greater number of people with intellectual disability are living into older age and are at increased risk of developing conditions such as dementia. Caring for a person with dementia presents several challenges for formal caregivers due to the progressive nature of the disease. An interpretive phenomenological analysis was used to understand the lived experiences of a purposive sample of formal caregivers in caring for people with intellectual disability and dementia.

Diagnosis and treatment of dehydration after stroke: A synthesis of existing evidence.

Dehydration after stroke is associated with poor health outcomes, increased mortality, and poses a significant economic burden to health services. Yet research suggests that monitoring and assessment of hydration status is not routinely undertaken. In this commentary, we critically appraise a systematic review which aimed to synthesise the existing evidence regarding diagnosis and treatment of dehydration after stroke.

Characterization of spironolactone and metabolites derivatized using Girard's reagent P using mass spectrometry and ion mobility spectrometry.

Rationale: Spironolactone is a steroidal drug prescribed for a variety of medical conditions and is extensively metabolized quickly after administration. Measurement of spironolactone and its metabolites remains challenging using mass spectrometry (MS) due to in-source fragmentation and relatively poor ionization using electrospray ionization. Therefore, improved methods of measurements are needed, particularly in the case of small sample volumes.

Morphological and molecular preservation through universal preparation of fresh-frozen tissue samples for multimodal imaging workflows.

The landscape of tissue-based imaging modalities is constantly and rapidly evolving. While formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded material is still useful for histological imaging, the fixation process irreversibly changes the molecular composition of the sample. Therefore, many imaging approaches require fresh-frozen material to get meaningful results.
