In bis-(4-methyl-piperidine-κ)gold(I) chloride, [Au(CHN)]Cl (), the methyl groups are, as expected, equatorial at the piperidine ring, but the Au atom is axial; this is the case for all five structures reported here, as is the expected linear coordination at the Au atom. Hydrogen bonding of the form N-H⋯Cl⋯H-N leads to inversion-symmetric dimers, which are further connected by C-H⋯Au contacts. Bis(4-methyl-piperidine-κ)gold(I) di-chlorido-aurate(I), [Au(CHN)][AuCl] (), also forms inversion-symmetric dimers; these involve aurophilic inter-actions and three-centre hydrogen bonds of the form NH(⋯Cl).

Background: It is unclear how the type of an atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) event potentially influences patients' likelihood of smoking cessation.
Methods: Using 2013 to 2018 data from the US based National Cardiovascular Data Registry Practice Innovation and Clinical Excellence outpatient cardiac registry, we identified patients who were current smokers at a clinic visit and followed them over time for a subsequent ASCVD event. Self-reported smoking status was assessed at each consecutive visit and used to determine smoking cessation after each interim ASCVD event (myocardial infarction, percutaneous coronary intervention, coronary artery bypass graft, stroke/transient ischemic attack, peripheral artery disease).

The compounds bis-(morpholine-κ)gold(I) chloride, [Au(CHNO)]Cl, , and bis-(morpholine-κ)gold(I) bromide, [Au(CHNO)]Br, , crystallize isotypically in space group 2/ with = 4. The gold atoms, which are axially positioned at the morpholine rings, lie on inversion centres (so that the N-Au-N coordination is exactly linear) and the halide anions on twofold axes. The residues are connected by a classical hydrogen bond N-H⋯halide and by a short gold⋯halide contact to form a layer structure parallel to the plane.

In the structure of the title compound, CHNOS·CHO, the two independent dioxane mol-ecules each display inversion symmetry. The pyrazole ring is approximately parallel to the aromatic ring of the oxy-ethanone group and approximately perpendicular to the tolyl ring of the sulfonyl substituent. An extensive system of classical and 'weak' hydrogen bonds connects the residues to form a layer structure parallel to (201), within which dimeric subunits are conspicuous; neighbouring layers are connected by classical hydrogen bonds to dioxanes and by 'weak' hydrogen bonds from H donors.

Several studies support the use of MRI characteristics and the expression of DUX4-regulated genes in muscle biopsies as biomarkers of FSHD disease activity and progression. We performed lower-extremity MRI and muscle biopsies in the mid-portion of the tibialis anterior (TA) muscles bilaterally in FSHD subjects and validated our prior reports of the strong association between MRI characteristics and expression of genes regulated by DUX4 and other gene categories associated with FSHD disease activity.

Methods: We used multi-level logistic regression with data from the 2020 OxWell Student Survey to assess whether ACEs were associated with (1) prior access to mental health support and (2) perceived unmet need for mental health services in a community sample of English secondary school students.
Background: Very low-calorie diet (VLCD) programs are readily available in Australia. However, there is a lack of real-world evidence describing the characteristics related to positive outcomes.
Aims: To examine the demographic, eating, self-efficacy and program engagement characteristics of VLCD users in Australia, and the associations between user characteristics and program success, weight loss, quality of life (QOL) and health.
Background: Ticks are an important driver of veterinary health care, causing irritation and sometimes infection to their hosts. We explored epidemiological and geo-referenced data from > 7 million electronic health records (EHRs) from cats and dogs collected by the Small Animal Veterinary Surveillance Network (SAVSNET) in Great Britain (GB) between 2014 and 2021 to assess the factors affecting tick attachment in an individual and at a spatiotemporal level.
Methods: EHRs in which ticks were mentioned were identified by text mining; domain experts confirmed those with ticks on the animal.
